Try not to mash as much. As you saw, vs someone who actually knows how to keep their strings tight, mashing will rarely ever be the right way out. Often times you need to BE or play patiently until your opponent makes a mistake.

Mashing will only give me free perfects really.

Different in what regard? The only thing I was doing otherwise was actually paying attention to the way you moved. You were actually frustrating me by running away a lot, so I just made it a habit to playing more patiently. As opposed to auto-piloting, which doesn't work when the opponent isn't giving you any chances.

As far as some people would think, those would be mix-ups. Because there have been times where misinputs gave me the advantage due to my opponents not reacting properly to what would've otherwise been a conventional play from my end.
