Loneliness is the state of not being able to connect with the society that assigns you the purpose for your continued existence. If there is a disconnection, you may start to feel as though your existence is meaningless. It may also cause you to no longer delude yourself into thinking that you aren't just an expendable tool to society.

But as long as there is that connection, even if it is a very superficial one (which it almost always is, since most humans are superficial to the core), then you should be able to continue to delude yourself.
