/jp/, did you know that sitting in a chair for hours upon hours every day is as bad as, if not worse than, chain smoking? It's true.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34956099/ns/health-fitness/t/you-sitting-down-experts-say-itll-kill-you/

Being NEETs (and even if you have a job, most jobs require you to sit down for a long time), you must suffer from this problem. How would you resolve it? Personally I stacked some books and stuff on my desk and put my monitor on top of them, and I use my pc standing up for most of the day if I feel like it. It does feel quite good.

>sitting in a chair for hours upon hours every day is as bad as, if not worse than, chain smoking

Bullshit. You can't quantify negative health effects like that.

URLs disregarded as pop science scaremongering bullshite, did not read.

I just walk a few miles a day.

>> No.8915733

Who else eats poorly, never exercises, and will probably die by their thirties?

I'm sick of /jp/ers who run five miles every day or have a super healthy diet or are health & fitness experts.

You're setting the baseline too high. Where are all the fat, American, fast food-gobbling NEETs? Are they being drowned out by a vocal minority?

I'm pretty sure nobody boasts about being fat and lazy, so that's probably the case.

Do some jumping jacks or push-ups a few times a day, problem solved.

Well, I'm a skinny European who eats poorly, never exercises an will probably die by my thirties, if that makes you feel any better. On top of all that, I also smoke.

I only walk because I have to. I'm an unhealthy eater and a smoker myself.

I'm also another skinny European. I eat very little, mainly pasta and rice (not poor), and the only exercise I do is walking for 15 minutes 3-4 days a week, and only because I have no other choice.

Here, but I'm going back to bed. School lets out soon, and we'll be awash with people pretending to be NEETs.

I enjoy cooking and eating too much to eat junk food. Healthy eating feels good.

No exercise though. Oh and I drink like an oni so I'm probably as fucked as you.

>> No.8915865

I exercise everyday precisely because of the health issues.

Last year I wasn't even being able to sit down without feeling great pain and was basically shitting fresh blood.

I used to hate exercising, associating it with "normals", but I was wrong. It's just exercise, and you feel good and stronger after each passing exercise and day. Also, I often find myself kinda bored: No good games to play, streams/videos/etc to watch, so I just do some dumbbell curls or pushups.

Me. Feels bad, but I'm to weak-willed to exercise to prevent my early death.

>> No.8917511

I'm pretty overweight, I smoke a lot, and any time not spent at class is spent on my ass in front of my computer. I wouldn't be surprised if I had a heart attack soon, but we'll see.

I also eat fast food and ramen a lot. When I don't have fast food I have big portions. I want to exercise and lose weight at least but I lack the motivation. I'm getting a job this summer to get some money for things I want so maybe I will get the motivation then

>> No.8917525

Today, I tried running again /jp/. It wasn't anything big, but it wasn't long before I noticed that I'm definitely significantly weaker than I used to be. My heart starts to hurt just a bit, after several seconds, and I can't run very far before I'm forced to go at something like half of my standard walking speed.

The thing is, I'm underweight. It's not like I'm fat, or something. I guess I just don't have much muscle left.

Well, even if I get a heart attack and die, I'm fine with that... I've (mostly) made peace with my regrets.

I don't do it as often as I should, but I do like to take nighttime walks. No people out, the weather's nice, I live in a place that makes the night atmospheric it's great. I'll often take my dog with me so she gets some exercise and I'll listen to music the whole way.

If you guys don't live in shitholes where nighttime walks are dangerous, you should try it.
