Manga style is not always "anatomical references". This is not a figure drawing class. If so, most of the mangakas would be considered "bad drawers".

Your "moe", for example, is anatomical wrong. Very rounded and flat faces with cat eyes and physically impossible hair styles with wrong, unnatural colors. How many girls did you see like that in real life? Not to mention missplaced eyes, bad shaders, etc.

Inking or coloring is a style. If you noticed by now, lots of manga styles can be differentiated by the way the artist inks and colors it no matter how generic it looks. Find an artist you like and copy from him or her and eventually you will find your own way of doing things.

I tried drawing something proportional correct. I couldn't draw the hand correctly because I ran out of space and I wanted to show the entire hand, so I made it smaller. Her leg is smaller because the perspective (I admit I made it smaller than it should), and the stomach ends where it shouldn't end. Oh, and the arm is too "flat" and doesn't look good at all. The feet, I can't draw feet correctly, but hey... I tried.

Just throwing this out there, but have you 3DS owners seen Colors! 3D application that came out recently? It's like Paint Tool SAI but for the 3DS, it's really nice.

I did color this from SoPM, some anon said I did abuse the smudge tool, somewhat I agree since I'm doing it with a mouse being my tablet out of service because delivering here for a spare part is bullshit.

Don't use the smudge tool at all next time, try using something like a air brush tool to smooth out areas.

Since you're colouring over line art and something that has already been shaded use the multiply layering option instead of normal. This will allow the colours to sit below the lines/shading instead of over.

The lines/shading themselves are desaturated if you want to keep with that look try less vibrant colours.

Arrange of Miko's theme - version, I don't know, 5? Reworked some bits that others and myself complained about before, and added some stuffs.

I won't even bother trying to make the synths sound good this time around, because honestly, I can't even if I wanted to. My producing skill is just not at a presentable level yet... So there, have the midi for it. I know it's somewhat akin to posting a sketch and expect people to give crits on the colour, but... Please forgive me on this.

I've decided to split the song into parts, after all. There's 3 tracks, but track 3 I'm not particularly happy about. It's there as a sort of placeholder, but I'm probably gonna throw it away and rework it.

It's now sort of like an EP now that I think about it... Criticism is always welcome and appreciated.

I half expected a brighter tone for this kind of thing, though, and some of your pauses/dynamics shifts were a bit too long to sustain the momentum, but it's still very nice. A nice change of feel from the usual stuffs, definitely. The last one was the one I liked the most.

A suggestion would be to enrich the melodies with, say, more leading voices, and to experiment with more unconventional chord voicings and progressions (jazz chords, etc).

Oh, I forgot to mention. Apparently the program I used to write this didn't conform to the General Midi standard, so it sometimes behaves unexpectedly on pitch bending and sliding. So if anything sounds horribly off key, that's probably it. Closing and opening the file again usually solves this problem.

Your criticisms are fine. I can't see a problem with what you say apart from a couple being more vague than a government coverup statement. Nevermind whether I agree with them(at least I think the arms and hands add cuteness and don't look "wrong," other than that no idea). The difference between your post and a hater post is clear.

You said it differently but his basics need work, even though he has become better at making pictures pretty. If I were him I'd settle for where I am at the moment and work on geometric sense or anatomy. Why? Because it's a bigger problem than coloring or effects, especially if you're aiming for pro(hint hint). You can't point at coloring and say "hey faggot that's WRONG" but you can for things like foreshortening and anatomy. If you're a pro and people see basic things wrong in your work(tit size doesn't count) they'll have substantial ammo to shit on your work with and they'll be right. You don't want your patrons to have the work you do for them ruined when somebody points out some basic flaw do you? This isn't about the Mami picture even though >>8932857 might have a point.

As long as it isn't a fucking god awful mistake most people aren't anal about anatomy--see Tony Taka's Miku's popularity and lots of manga--so I'd work on objects and accessories. Frankly I find your anatomy to be well within tolerable range but stuff like this hat... this hat... her wrist thing was bad too, maybe you were just lazy but this is just one example.

It doesn't fucking matter whether you're using Painter, Photoshop, SAI, or whatever the fuck else strikes your fancy. I went through all of those, the only thing that it's going to change is convenience.

You can't confine yourself to drawing digitally. I'm not saying don't do it all, but you're going to put yourself at a huge disadvantage if that's what's your primary focus when you're starting up.

But that still doesn't matter.

What matters is drawing. Looking at drawings. Drawing some more. Reading about drawing. Yet more drawing. Drawing from life. Drawing from photos. Drawing from drawings. Drawing drawing drawing. Maybe some classes if you can stand offline interaction.

And not just drawing digitally, or drawing with a pencil, I'm just saying "drawing" to get the idea through. Drawing, painting, sketching, using a variety of tools is crucial. Of course, don't try to do everything at once, focus on a couple things at a time.

The dude in that threads succeeded(somewhat, because it seems to me that at one point he gave up on illustration and focused purely on painting from life) because he put enormous amount of effort to various different aspects of art. He researched it, he read books, he went to classes, he went training in an atelier.

You don't need to do the same exact things as he did, or spend the same amount of money, but you need to have the same intensity.
