It's fine to die a million times on normal mode when you first start playing. Just keep trying and get through the game a few times, no matter how many continues you use. Eventually you'll start beating it with less and eventually no continues, which is when you start feeling like normal is just a training mode so you start playing the game for real.

Everything by CAVE by you won't get as many people posting about them as you will about Touhou, for obvious reasons.

You can also choose to use nokosage, which will not bump the thread but not show any proof of a sage, kinda like a more polite sage, or a stealthsage.
This will also bring you back to the same thread.

Using sage here is not a bad thing, it helps keep the front page clean without stuff being pushed off.

Some time off does put things in perspective I suppose. I've been coming here since the start but I stopped actively visiting the board for around two years or something until recently and it's actually somewhat tolerable if I'm being honest.

That said, it is a bit more hectic now than I remember, which is a negative point but not a huge one. At least some of the worst posters from back then are no longer around.

It's some kind of shitty tier (or rank) system /jp/'s Touhou fandom created for trolling and shitposting, albeit with some degree of truth. The tiers in question are:

Primary -- Plays and/or have 1CC (One Credit Cleared) at least one Touhou danmaku game on Normal or higher difficulty. Also knows the canon content and usually gets involved in gameplay-related threads and official anouncements. Quite elitist, self-entitled and easily get a "No fun allowed" attitude, but as long as you keep your own conjectures and fandom-content likings for yourself they'll don't mind.

Secondary -- Might have not played or doesn't like the official games, but acknowledge canon content through official works and likes mostly derivative (fandom) content. Usually talks about soundtrack's arrangements, fan-made manga, among other contents. They may be obnoxious but harmless. They are usually picked on by primaries due to some idiotic people who argues against canon -whether their reasons are objective or not- and/or think Gensokyo it's all sugar and rainbows. They aren't liked too much and often get confused with tertiaries.

Tertiary -- Your typical meme-spouting, disrespectful and deluded fan who only cares about erotic content, yuri pairings, shippings, constant fan-service and more vapid themes, and then forces their ideas upon others or doesn't like to get involved in more serious and objective threads. Think about /a/, /b/, /v/ or any other imageboard which fall for the same kind of behavior.

Hint: /jp/ hates said boards with a passion and will try to 'redirect' you there if you make some of the mentioned mistakes or use any of their inner jokes.

While fandom/canon discussions and conflicts are nothing new at all, let alone tier-centric systems among communities or fanbases, you cannot deny this exact terms are often used here, mostly, if not on every, Touhou related topic as a jargon of sorts /jp/ has adopted in a similar way /b/'s and other boards "-fag" suffixes.

They could be created and used elsewhere but I'm yet to find them on other places, and they usually pick their own terms depending on said fandom branching.
