We'll run out of oil eventually, I'm doubtful it will be during our lifetime though.

Is human output collected more efficiently when they are scared or suffering?
Everything on the news is scare stories, things like this are also spread to scare people even more. Maybe it's just to always keep prices high through threat of scarcity.

It's like you're born and thrown through a scare house maze, with your sweat and screams being collected to fuel the machine. A big machine people built long ago without noticing, where others work to keep it going without noticing, that people navigate and live in without noticing. A lot of these things are very strange, like progress. What are people working for? They want to keep advancing, but to what end? You can keep going forever, but you'll never find an end point I think, at least not in our lifetimes, so what are you dying for? Someone else in the future?

Fiat currency has been devalued over the last few decades actually, the price of oil has not increased so drastically. In gold, the price would be at a more tolerable price.

Which has nothing to do with trade deficits or increasing costs of living, which have nothing to do with oil prices?

>In gold, the price would be at a more tolerable price.
I would expect so, since the price of gold also skyrocketed from scarcity and gullible idiots (or seasoned scammers) touting it as a miracle currency. It tripled in price in the last decade IIRC.

>> No.8868453

>>8868434
have you considered that everything hasn't really increased in price simultaneously as a coincidence, but that the value of currency has gone down along with stagnated wages instead?

The price of gold has skyrocketed in comparison to what again?

Nuclear power will keep us going. Fission for the next few thousand years, once we get fusion we'll have millions of years of clean power.

There are already a number of technologies way more efficient than simply burning oil, such as thorium or cold fusion reactors.
The only reason we aren't seeing them around is because oil companies hold governments by the balls and no one would want to piss them off by starting a resarch program that could annilhate their market.

>> No.8868760

>> No.8868761

Yeah, Oil will run out in the next few decades or so. But so will our dependence on it. Anyone in this thread ever heard of "Alternative Energy"? Yeah, didn't think so. Continue on with your hysteria, please.

>> No.8868764

It's not like we're going to wake up one day and suddenly there will be no oil. It will gradually become more and more scarce, and we'll gradually switch over to other energy sources as the cost of using oil increases. We're already seeing it happen to some extent, though oil is still cheap enough that it hasn't had to happen on a large scale yet.

Well its little different
More then 50% of the profit goes to the country they earn the most of selling gas/oil

Its a mistake that people think the owners and sellers get the biggest profits, in Germany 75% goes to the country with tax.

1 reason why we aren't switching to different sources is because the country's are earning the most on the market

It is unscientific to believe in things without data.

Hot fusion reactors exist and are in operational development. A prototype LFTR existed (the MSRE) and ran for many years. A cold fusion reactor had a single claim of existence that was never successfully replicated, after hundreds of attempts.

It's not unscientific to say that it was a bogus claim. It may be unscientific to say "cold fusion is impossible", but it's equally unscientific to say that cold fusion exists now, or will be discovered, or even worked upon seriously in the near future.

>> No.8868800

>>8868796
Well, it's also unscientific to assume it's impossible just because we haven't made it work yet.

No it won't.
We will find something new if we haven't already. Polymers CAN be manufactured and I know you can make fuel from corn.
Everyone single country shits their pants at the thought. If it happens, it will be the equivalent of shooting yourself in the face. It will probably burn down to good ol' fashioned war.
