I had a lot of hamsters when I was little. I once accidentally crushed one of them in my hand. Shit was messy and felt horrible, it was not nice.

Also, the females were often really stressed because the house (more like a farm, but meh) had four big boxer dogs, and would eat all their babies alive.

tl;dr -- fuck hamsters.

STOP CALLING THEM HAMSTERS

If I wanted a rodent for a pet I'd get a rat, like they have on /an/.

Rats are very smart and affectionate.

Too bad they only live about three years... and although they're very clean, they pee everywhere they go.

That's how rats and mice find their way around, they smell their pee trails to know where they've been before.

And sure urine is sterile but that's gross.

I guess I'll stick with cats. But maybe one day I'll get a pet pig. They're extremely smart, and they use litter boxes like cats do.

"Hamster"?

John Cleese's Siberian hamster, perhaps.

If I had a yard, I'd get a pig.
They're such fun pets.

Not to mention the fun that could be had naming it sudo and taking opportunistic photos.
