This I like the old ones. Newer ones rely too much on all that flying wires shit. Old ones have other ways to be ridiculous. I like the flying guillotine one.

I also like the goofy semi-modern ones with lots of special effects, like the kung fu hustle, shaolin soccer, and storm riders movies. I don't know why people don't make more movies with people blowing shit up with special effects.

Dark City was fucking awesome for that, even though it's not Chinese or martial arts.

This. There's something awesome about watching ninjas do double somersaults after bouncing off something that obviously wasn't a trampoline just out of shot.

I like old sci-fi serials for the same reason.

No but, I do have a new appreciation for the chinese language. I used to think it was Ching chong nip nong until I watched sword of the stranger. The way the chinamen spoke was very strange to me. This is a really good Taiwanese film about native Taiwanese Aborigines of the Seediq tribe fighting against the Japanese during the time when Taiwan was a Japanese colony. It's very gruesome, full of gore and beheadings (the Seediq tribe specialised in headhunting). It's only been recently released though in cinemas, so I don't think there are DVDs/BDs yet.

Yuxiang is elegant and courteous under the influence of her father's faith, though her lack of passion cannot fully satisfy Wei Yangsheng's sexual needs. before being a standard film actor, Jackie Chan started off in "yellow films" (i.e. pornos).

from Wikipedia:
>Due to the commercial failures in his early ventures into films and trouble finding stunt work, in 1975 Chan starred in a comedic adult film, All in the Family, which features Jackie Chan's first and possibly only nude sex scene filmed to date. It is also the only film he has made to date that did not feature a single fight scene or stunt sequence.
