What exactly is the problem here? These are positives as far as I'm concerned. Not every series needs a whiny teenager who has authority issues. Destiny also had other awesome characters. Luna, Meirin, Rey, etc. Only problem with it is the recap episodes and reused animation.

Astray was one of the few good things SEED produced.

SEED had a great mix of things for mainstream viewers, it at least had balance and wasn't insulting the viewer's intellect. It had a great setting that had potential, but Destiny squandered that potential, that you can say it parodied itself because it basically repeats the last arc of SEED, and with more hilarity as the civilians are mostly like sheep.

Just comparing SEED ep50 with Destiny ep50 should be enough to say that Destiny is a clusterfuck

I want them to struggle over such hardships

And not every character in a story needs to overcome hardships and change into different characters during the story. There are many characters in Gundam series that don't have any personal flaws they conflict with, or heavy development happen to them.

If Destiny didn't be what you wanted it to be, then that is unfortunate, and you have every right to not like the show. But you not liking the show does not mean the show is bad. Nor is it a valid criticism that the show did not do what YOU wanted it to do, and did not appeal to your tastes.

As someone whose only experience to SEED's plot in its entirety is SRW J and has at best second-hand information concerning Destiny, I must say that claiming that a show is good because the characters are "perfect" is very much an opinion on the subject and not an actual point in the show's favor. It is subjective. It is personal taste.

From my understanding there are many reasons as to why people dislike Destiny, from the reuse of animation to the poorly developed explanation to Mwu's survival to finding Kira and Lacus' part in the series being more (hypocritical) author avatars than continuations from the same characters from SEED and so forth. As I have only second-hand and third-hand information on the series I can not give my own thoughts on this, for I have no desire to watch Destiny. Just realize that it does not work in your favor to claim that characters being "perfect" is a positive for the series and then claiming that the opposing view is only opinion.

I was taking issue with the characters' "perfectness" being used as though it is an actual argument for the show's apparent poorness, when it is little more that poorly worded personal opinion.

Even Superman has a weakness, and is comparatively down to earth compared to Kira.

That's where your wrong. Their designers and Patrick-people like you may have hoped/believed that was the case, but because Coordinators don't have emotional dampeners/modifiers they can still relate to Naturals on a base human/emotional level. Anger, love, hate - they have the same understanding. Also if you're referring to an intellectual gap, Naturals have also been able to stand side to side with Coordinators through willpower alone (think Edmond Ducreau). Indeed, there are also 'slackers' among Coordinators (Elsman-types). Just because they would learn something faster or get physically fit quicker doesn't mean they choose to do so. With that being said, I think this arrogant attitude of yours (we're already a million miles ahead) would and has actually hurt the development of Coordinators. Arrogance gets you killed when you think mere Naturals can't design a bigger stick to surprise and hit you with. At the end of the day, genetics only opens the doors for people but can't make them walk through it. You should watch Gattaca (again if you have). There is no gene for the human spirit.
