My advice is get a controller. Amazon is selling a usb gadget that works on both pc and ps3 that will let you use the Wii Classic Controller or the Madcatz Tatsunoko Vs Capcom Stick. You will probably have to toggle from analog to digital on the controller to get everything working right on pc.

So, I finally managed to figure out how to configure my keys for my keyboard, but now how the fuck do I figure out what each button # corresponds to what key on the keyboard in the game launcher?

Right now, I have it set to the exact same layout as the one in the key configuration guide here: http://img846.imageshack.us/img846/156/joystickconfig.png

I'm aiming to set my keys up so that Z X C V equates to Weak, Medium, Heavy, and Guard, respectively.

What's a good way to practice oki setups? I'm mainly using F-Aoko and C-Kouma. I can hitconfirm into combos alright, but once I land an airthrow/ender at the end of it I never really know what to do with myself.

>> No.8829221

>>8829168

Give up.

As for fAoko, end with 624A/B and then tk j214[A] is a generic oki setup. You can dash in, air dash in, double air dash, cross up, backdash->forwarddash for a whichway, 4[C] overhead, etc. And you're mostly safe because of orb. If you're in corner, anything into 214C automatically becomes a mixup, can use on oki as well. Makes it pretty difficult to see anything you're doing, so airdash mixups. If you airthrow with fAoko, don't even think about oki, too far.

To answer the question regarding practice, enter Training and open the Training menu. Choose Enemy Settings and change Enemy Defence to All Guard and Enemy Defence Type to Combo. Combo type defense basically means the CPU will start blocking after it has been hit, i.e. after a combo.

Just a note, you can also set Enemy Defence to Status Guard, meaning the CPU will only block high if standing and only low if crouching in case you want to practice confirming into another combo from high/low mixups.

>> No.8846392

>>8846309
The netplay in itself is pretty straightforward. Whatever you do, use Direct connect. If you want to join a game, put the ip:port of something you want to join in your clipboard, and use the "Connect from clipboard" or something option. If you want to host, forward your 46316 port and pick "host" this time, then get your IP and post it like this - 111.111.111.111:46316 so people can copy it and join.

You may want to check the mizuumi wiki (http://wiki.mizuumi.net/w/Melty_Blood)) or the melty bread forums (http://www.meltybread.com/forums/)) to hopefully find info on a char you want to learn. Alternatively, you can check the pastebin in the OP, which should cover a lot of subjects.

As first steps, you could try to get a combo down or two in practice mode, then just host a game or join one and try your best to progress.

Tips? Sure.
You've got a high tendency to poke when it isn't safe, don't. Don't throw out anti-air or any other normals blindly when I'm above you. I caught you so many times when I shouldn't have. So block more.
Train up your blocking, your current level is still pretty vulnerable to Instant Air Dash attacks.
Learn your entire moveset well: normals, commands, specials you name it. There were situations where you could have used a Reversal to wreck my shit.
Learn your better combos, you have so much potential to do more damage and get better okizeme. That also, your pressure was really weak so get your blockstring in order.
Don't wakeup bunker, you're wasting 50% meter, it's easy to bait, and your other reversals could have done so much better.
Learn to tech punish your bunkers, to me it was just a scratch and a free out.

I can aircombo just fine. I just tend to drop extended things in weird places, especially in games with crazy long combos like Marvel 3 or Blaz. I mean, I tried training mode a bit and I can do basic stuff like launcher j.BC j.BC airthrow, but I have no clue if that'll get me any further than ABCS j.BBCS does in Marvel.

>> No.8865773

>>8865632
I've been getting by with just ABC launcher j.BC j.BC airthrow and basic fundamentals so far, aside from a really easy corner combo that costs meter. When I lose, I know it's because I'm not familiar with the game, not because I don't have good combos. In my opinion, the gap between people who can do fancy combos the people who can do basic combos isn't as high as in BB or Marvel. You're better off spending your time learning setups off of knockdowns and maybe a combo that gives knockdown.

That's just my opinion, though, and I haven't faced anyone amazing yet.

>> No.8865857

>>8865632
You should be fine with most characters then. Some characters (such as PCiel, C-arc, C-Sei, Kohaku) have long combos which are extremely superior over your basic air combo though. You might want to check out the wiki and pick someone who doesn't. Maybe H-nanaya?

>> No.8866260

>>8866219
GGs! I really liked that you displayed signs of adaptability. Such as DPing when I'm hovering above you and experimenting with overheads in your blockstring. I trust you know not to rely on reversals too much though. I also liked that you have a feel for when to respect pressure.
Things I think you need to improve in no particular order:
Work on your high/low blocking, you gotta get those reactions up.
Learn your other combos, Tohno's 2C 5B 6B does a lot of damage but has pretty low range.
Practice your counter hit follow ups more.
Your movement, zoning needs work, do try to get your Instant Airdashes down.
Don't get too used to attacking the ground, especially when I'm in the air.
Master your moveset, I didn't see your slide being used much, nor your 236A/B, nor your 22A/B/C/D series. They are great for your zoning and blockstrings.
Practice and gain a better blockstring, you understood how to stagger which is good. Didn't see much reverse beating. Watch out for jump outs.

Other than that, it should become clearer as you keep playing. Keep at it!

>> No.8866295

>>8866260
Yeah, I have big issues with blockstrings in general. I'm not really too confident in when to use Tohno's special moves, I don't really reverse beat, I tend to do 2C dash 2A too much which leads me to get counter hit, and I tend to autopilot 2A 2B 2C 5B. I feel like I learned a bit about blockstrings from watching your Nanaya though, so that's something I'll work on when I have the time.

Thanks for all the advice. It's really nice to hear feedback about how you do. I hope I can catch you again sometime.

32 Red Arc is Saber's normal clothes, Same goes for Arc on 20. Riesbyfe has 22/23. Len on 30. That's all I know for now.

I'm going to try and host again, most likely I won't lag like shit, But can't be too sure. Low Tier West Canada.

Okay, it says ver 1.07, rev 1.30 when I start it up, hopefully I'm ready to host and will do so after a match or two of dota 2

There are several that seem like either Iri or Ilya, I think Aoko has one of them.

A lot of Satsuki's are patterns from specific series, although the schoolgirl uniform is pretty generic so lends itself to that.

GGs, was fun. I think I'm going to have to practice on WLen to see what was up with my air combos, I don't usually drop them that much.

GGs. I need to learn better blockstrings so you can't just jump out after the first hit of my 2C.

Okay so I just downloaded this and I was fusking around in arcade mode, trying to figure out the differences between this and the older versions, and I got to the end and encountered this "dust of osiris" shit. What the fuck is this asinine crap? G-akiha in the first MB was funny, and it was put in the funny route, but now this yi-gi-oh-esque gold plated Sumerian gundam shows up for the first time as the (?) final boss. I'm sure it would make a *little* more sense if I understood Moon Runes, but still, what the fuck?

GGs. You should pick a character to play and learn their basic combos. It's really hard to do anything when you can only do ~2k damage at most without any followup options.

also i'm playing around with the idea of enabling training mode during netplay. would anyone be interested in this functionality?

Do you mean being able to use training mode while waiting for a client as a host?
Then yes.

Thanks a lot for the new version.

Would be a cool optional feature as long as it doesn't desync in the process.

no. I meant being able to have the battle type be training mode and not a regular versus match.

that's what i'm most afraid of, along with the game not recognizing the netplayer as P1/P2 depending on what side they're on.
