Anyone have updates on what happened with the "rave" on Saturday night?

A friend of mine on security told me that 3 people were brought out on stretchers and the Boston PD shut down the entire con. (The Hynes Convention Center, supposed to be open until 3am, closed at about 2:30am. They allowed for episodes and panels to finish, but did not allow for any other episodes to start.) I myself did see somebody being loaded to a stretcher while I was passing by.

Since then I've heard it was 6 people on stretchers, that 2 people have died, and 2 people were arrested.

It seems that a lot of people are talking about a young (early-mid teens) girl doing drugs, vomiting, and being brought out on stretcher. (I've heard she has since died, but who knows? No official statement from AB or anything.) And that this girl's boyfriend fought the EMS and got arrested.

I didn't go to this con, but it took me a week (exactly, I decided to make it a week before the con) for my first one which was not that good, and maybe a month for the second one. Most of the month was planning and buying, I think the actual sewing took about three days (though I didn't sleep for two of them).

My third, I started in January... Oh wow it's taking a long time. Though I've been laid-back about how often per week I work on it.

Materials, I just buy at a local sewing store and/or Joann's for fabric, and wherever I need to for the other stuff (lumber/home improvement stores for the wood, Tandy leather for the leather).

Nah, my mom's 500 miles away. I did get a sewing machine from my aunt, though.

Yep, they know. At first I just told them I was making a costume when I made the sword and asked for a sewing machine, but then I showed them pictures of the completed Tenshi dress and they said it was pretty neat. Didn't say one way or the other what they thought about the fact that it was a cosplay of a girl, rather than a guy... I'm still sorta wondering about that.

And really, if you're thinking of doing it yourself, you should definitely give it a try. Do something easy to start with, like Reisen (like I did). Then once you learn how this stuff works, you can go to more fancy Touhous.
