Sennheiser HD 280 Pro. My old ones were Sennheisers too, some open ones that must have cost about 200€ at the time.

I'm never going back to open headphones. You have to crank up the volume to compensate for ambient noise, and even then you can't hear shit. When I got these phones I suddenly heard things in songs that I was never able to hear before. The bass is also much stronger.

Perhaps open phones only work in a completely silent environment.

So it depends.

A2DP bluetooth headsets basically always recompress audio via SBC, which is a pretty shitty (but low complexity) codec.

Normal wireless (with a base station) theoretically should be able to get close enough to an equivalent wired headphone, but there is a much smaller selection and you should expect to pay at least twice what you would for an equivalent sounding wired. Sennheiser and Sony are the only two brands I can think of off hand with decent sounding wireless sets.

There's a pretty big difference between ten dollar phones and hundred dollar phones. Unfortunately, the same can't be said when you go much further up. You basically have to go from $100 to $1000 to get the same boost as from $10 to $100.

But yes, headphones are a good investment all around for people like us who are using them ten or more hours a day. You end up paying less than a cent per hour of use you get out of them, so the pricetag really isn't that ridiculous at all.

More like the difference between a 72-96kbps MP3 and lossless.

128kbps MP3 is quite close to transparent with modern encoders; an apt comparison there is the difference between $400 and $1500 headphones.

I used to use them specifically for console gaming, but I re-purposed them for my PC entertainment needs.

Oh come on, practically anyone can easily hear enough of a difference between even expensive headphones to show up on an ABX test; most headphones color the sound in different ways (because people prefer different things.)

Not that it's even really possible to do a proper ABX test between headphone models because you can't particularly eliminate how different models feel different on the head, and that invalidates blind testing.

AIAIAI TMA-1.

Great headphones; they are good for both DJing and common use.

Oooh, the thread is turning into an audiophile shit-fest... by time this is over fags will be mocking the tubes in each others $10k+ DACs and laughing at people without "Brilliant Pebbles" taped to their cables.

What did you expect? it's just more proof that /jp/ has been infested with normals with lots of spending money. They can't even measure the quality of these things and still try to argue which pair is best and buy expensive ones just to brag.
They should just go back to /g/ or /mu/ or wherever they belong. It's obviously not here.

Some things sound better, some things sound worse. So people who spend lots of money on figma and other merchandise are "normal" as well? You are so retarded I can't even believe you are being serious.

The most expensive headphones I see in this thread are the HD650, which are like 5 or 6 figma.

The only real waste of money I see is >>8820730's $1000 headphone amp (paired with headphones half that price lawl), if he actually even owns it.

One or two hundred on headphones that will last years is a decent allocation of your meagre NEET funds if you enjoy animu, VNs, or Touhou remixes. Headphone amps are in general a waste of money though. Doubly so if they're more expensive than the O2.

These ones. Started working two months ago and wanted to give myself a gift.
They're not bad, but they're not as awesome as I expected. This shitty city doesn't have a big variety of headphones, and I didn't want to order the Senn 598 online. I should've done that instead.
Good thing is that they're comfy, but really hate that they use batteries. Maybe I'll wait for a bit and sell them and buy the 598 instead.
If someone has these headphones, could you give me your opinion about them?

Head-fi will tell you that they're horribly bad for the money. (They are.) Therefore, it's best not to think about it too much, and get better headphones next time.

Yeah, I didn't get angry or robbed, just a bit disapointed.
Would you recommend me the Senn 598? Or which headphones would you recommend me between the 150-300 bucks range? I just want some nice, comfy phones, preferably closed ones. Or should I look for some nice in-ear ones?

Try having a look at beyerdynamic headphones. They're very comfortable for fullsize and depending on which ones they're also very good headphones.

HD598 are not closed.

Of the Big Three that used to represent the flagship of each manufacturer, only DT770 are closed.

Maybe you also want to look into M50's, SRH940, or D2000.

My ancient pair of sony MDR-CD380 just broke ;_;
I want something similar, suggestions?

ie. comfortable, not pressuring/heating ears, semi-open, circum-aural, easy to drive, good sound quality for this price range.

I got my DT880s on sale in 2009. They were only $178. The same page has them listed for $309, so I think I got a good deal. I didn't get an amp until about a year later when I finally got the money. I didn't get nice tubes until about 6 months ago, again, when I finally got the money.
