Do we have some arcade otakus on /jp/?

>> No.8776437

I used to own an Egret 3 and a ESP.Ra.De board and regularly modify arcade sticks.

Sup.

>> No.8776438

I used to go to the local arcade when I had money. I haven't been there in almost a year, now.

Yeah I need to get some more MVS stuff like belt scrollers, metal slug and shocktroopers.

Now how could I forget about my Raiden II pcb that loves to run in its 55.7hz Seibu sure loved running their games at odd speeds.

it was like i was part of the furniture already at my local arcade when it existed

I really want a TAITO and SEGA ashtray strange that there are no replicas being produced on the market.

>> No.8776502

It depends on your definition. I'm a fighting game player and I enjoy the older games more than any other. My favorites are Vampire Savior, Garou and Last Blade 2. I only play fighting games online, as you can imagine, since I'm posting in /jp/. I'm not sure if playing mostly old arcade games online is enough for your definition.

>> No.8776510

I actually really like Road Blaster...

I enjoy the old games more than the new ones, sort of. I play MSHVSSF and 3S and Alpha 3 a lot - but I also play BBCSEX, SSFIV AE2012 and UMvC3 a lot.

I rarely play online, so mostly offline for me.

Does going to the arcade weekly to play DRR count?

I remeber in my country (Germany) was in the late 80s and 90s sometimes some arcade games. But later in the late 90s, 00s and today I see a arcade game no more...

>> No.8776950

Southern European we still got plenty of arcades here I believe that the poorer the country is the more popular arcades are makes sense..

>> No.8777330

I used to spend an incredible amount of time at Gameworks because they have lots of good fighters in those proper sit-down cabinets like in OPs pic and waitresses that bring you beer while you play. Fuck yeah! But mostly it's because there's something very satisfying about kicking other player's butts in person.

Stopped going as much now that I have a decent computer but OP, you've inspired me to go back this weekend. Maybe they've got a Project Diva arcade finally.

There's an arcade in London which has the dual screen Darius arcade game.
I want to go try it someday, having played G-Darius a lot on the PS1.

There's a place that looks pretty cool about a half hour away from me but I haven't checked it out. I keep meaning to but this image of getting bullied by 80s style mall thugs keeps popping up in my mind.

It's not even in a mall.

I drive up there and hit up that place from Portland all the time. Shame the only competition is for the Blazblue and SSFIV machines while TvC, 3S, and MvC2 are mostly unplayed. You definitely should go often again.

>> No.8781651

I play mostly bemani (IIDX/popn/DM). Still practicing.

It's nice to see fellow rhythm game players in /jp/. Any other games you play? I've been thinking of getting into PIU. The main game I've been playing is Technika 3, and it's really fun.

It's such a shame that the IIDX machine broke a few months ago. Because of that I've been saving up to buy a good controller at DJDAO and play it at home.

>> No.8781691

I mostly play bemani's rhythm games. Mostly IIDX, pop'n music, reflec beat and jubeat plus. I want to try Technika sometimes.

>> No.8781698

I went through a small arcade fanatic phase when I was 18. I would never play fighters though since I was afraid of competition.

I used to draw a crowd when I would play Ms. Pac-Man.

I have fond memories of playing Taiko no Tatsujin in Akihabara. I sucked pretty badly but it was fun, especially when playing a song I actually knew.

There is a Taiko machine in the Little Tokyo arcade in Los Angeles, but its pretty run down.

Used to go to Arcade Infinity but now it's gone. Still go to Super Arcade and sometimes Round 1. Super Arcade upgraded their IIDX to Lincle and fixed their Pop'n Music machine so that's cool, they also have DDR and DJMax Technika 3. There's also Initial D/Wangan machines and most of the mainstream fighting games from Capcom/Namco, then there's random shit like an arm wrestling game and Tetris/Puzzle Fighter. Wish they had more STGs...

Was planning on visiting an arcade in Hong Kong when I went over for summer. They're apparently pretty up to date with arcades, more so than England.

They even had the giant gundam VR domes somewhere. They also had the Project Miku cabinets and the arcade I glimpsed a couple years ago had the Taiko drum game plus loads of other ones.

>> No.8784401

I wish. The US East Coast is arguably the worst arcade scene in the world.

Most of them are dead and the ones that are still running have outdated cabinets from 2005-06.

I heard there was an arcade at New York Chinatown that had up to date arcade games though. Can anyone confirm this?

For fighting games it's pretty difficult, at least for me, since I don't play with other people. For piu or DDR it's just practice, practice and... practice, that's all, but if you really want to improve your skills you need friends too.
