Make sure you're installing while your machine is set to Japanese. If installing while set to english you get errors.

That might be happening because you aren't running in Japanese compatibility mode. It's under Control Panel \ regional options \ advanced. You'll need to install support from the languages tab first if you haven't already.

I don't know if this is the problem here, but a lot of Japanese games require it.

There are 3 different versions of Melty Blood.
The first one is shitty in gameplay and like Mugen, but the story is cool.

Second one, Re-Act is a hell of a lot better and has the same story, basically a revision with more characters.

Act Cadenza is a port to PC of the PS2 version. Polished and refined, but purely a fighting game rather than a mix.

You have to install the East Asian languages pack from your XP CD.
