Kourindou, it's the only place where you can almost guarantee a permanent residence in Gensokyo. Here is what would happen:
Upon arrival in Gensokyo, immediately head over to Kourindou and get friendly with Rinnosuke by explaining to him how all the items from the outside world work, if possible find a laptop with some charge in its battery and show him the power of the computer shikigami. After a week of working with Rinnosuke, he will inevitably offer you a job at Kourindou due to the invaluable nature of your knowledge which you of course accept on the proviso that he gets Yukari to let you stay in Gensokyo permanently.
Here’s where shit gets interesting. After a while, you are bound to meet Reimu and Marisa. Become friendly with them and get yourself invited to one of the parties at the shrine. During the party start to make connections with the Youkai, particularly Alice, Byakuren, Kasen and whoever else has the ability to turn you in to a youkai/extend your lifespan.
After a few years, suggest a travelling cart which can be used to sell wares in the village to Rinnosuke, he’ll naturally think it’ll be a good idea and send you on your way with a cart full of crap you can peddle to the villagers. This is the important part, make sure to bring some items which a teacher would find useful, and then when you have finished your work in the village, head over to the school where Keine works and offer the items to her as a gift. Keep doing this till she becomes attracted to you then offer to take her out on a date.
Bam, 3 years down the line you are married to Keine and have some kids. If you played your cards right you will also have lengthened your life span/become a Youkai and can live happily with your loving wife forever.
There, that’s how you abuse your one week in Kourindou.

It's true that Outsiders are valued for their knowledge of the outer world, but most of them aren't even interested in science in the slightest, so if anything, the best you could hope for is some fraction of Gensokyo being curious about what you know.

You could get a job from Rinnosuke for it, but he's about the only one who would have more than a passing interest, and only a few people are ever interested in his wares, so he doesn't have that much money (not that money means much in Gensokyo anyway). His name isn't that big in Gensokyo either.

The most this would do for you is let you introduce yourself to Reimu or Marisa, but as with most everyone, about all you could expect is a passing interest.
