Alaska is awesome. I live in Southeast Alaska, which does not get too cold in winter (we had one week of single digit weather), and not too hot in summer. It rarely breaks 80, and I can't stand 80 and up. I'm surrounded by evergreen trees, beautiful mountains, clear streams and waterfalls, and the ocean. Plus the people here are pretty great, friendlier than most people down south. Here in Juneau at least, anyways.

Anchorage is a much larger city, and it's a central hub going to the rest of inland Alaska, so there's a lot more shipping traffic going through there. As such, the supply of food is higher, and prices are lower. They were rather comparable to the lower 48.

In Juneau, McDonalds doesn't have a Dollar Menu, it has a Value Menu where items are $1.50. Subway's five dollar footlongs are $7. Those are the only two fast food chains in Juneau.

Sadly no, my sister was probably the youngest girl there because it was opening night and it was a midnight showing. With all the traffic we didn't make it home until 3:30 A.M. Most of the girls there were 15-18 and the occasional couple of older people. That's okay with me, though, I am only romantically interested in fumos.
It was pretty stressful being surrounded by girls, though. I have an immense fear of crowds, so it was nerve-wracking to have someone sitting right next to me on all sides.

I live in Ohio. My town gets a hell of a lot of fog the morning after it rains, which is pretty creepy/awesome.
