I'm really tired right now, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that yukkuri abuse is a rebellion against Japan's cult of cuteness. Big eyed noseless baby-talking blobs designed to make you feel sympathetic are put through hell to make you feel even more sympathetic. The frustrating thing about yukkuri abuse is that the authors don't want anything from you. Any other time you're made to feel sympathy for points of light on a screen you are expected to give your money or time or support to the person who owns the rights to those points of light. If only I could donate money to Gensokyo to save the yukkuris. But there isn't a yukkuri charity organization because the abusers aren't trying to manipulate you, they are trying to show you how you are manipulated.
