You use the wrong definition of successful. In your case it means that I will never be some CEO or large popular person. I may or may not be that, I don't know. It's not part of my goals, but if "being succesful" in your sense is required for accomplishing my goals, it would have to be done.

For me, "successful" means "to win" or to accomplish one's goals. I certainly plan on accomplishing my goals. A lot of people are in situations they've placed themselves, which means they've succeeded in achieving some of their goals thus winning.

Being society "successful" is far less important for some than just plain winning or accomplishing their goals.
