I like how some people tell OP to go to college as if getting a job that requires a degree will make things better. I program in c++, so not too low level, but low level enough for me I guess.
Yeah, I find algorithm design, oop design stuff the most interesting too, but I can't do that all the time obviously...until I become really really pro.

It's not like I LOVE going to work and can't wait to program. I obvious find my hobby (read 4chan) more fun. But I like it enough to not hate myself.

God damn it I wish I was a programmer. Or rather, I wish I was a kid again so I would be INTERESTED in programming, and motivated enough to learn.

There are a lot of embedded systems jobs around here, which is strange because it's a rural/working class area. In my (limited) knowledge I like C (though I can barely do anything with it), I like embedded devices, I like Linux, I like ARM. I keep seeing job posts for embedded C ARM/Linux developers, but I can't do anything and I have no qualifications nor the motivation to learn.
