/jp/ - Otaku Culture

I wish I lived in a parallel universe where some sort of fascist, work ethic-obsessed government won. Then I'd have to work, and there'd be none of this otaku nonsense. I could be blissfully ignorant and happy.

Maybe I would've gone completely insane.

Maybe I'd be a half-decent programmer.

I imagine I'd become a hard working man who's proud of his accomplishments.

Yeah. Then there would only be rent-a-video addicts and porn video addicts. Like in the 80s, America style.

There is a small chance that I would have used the time to invest in societally productive things and a much larger chance that I would have used all of it to play video games.

I'd probably have a girlfriend instead of a waifu
I'd probably be a junkie and/or alcoholic instead of a loser who whacks it to cartoons
I'd probably be unemployed instead of someone who spends most of his days in libraries and government archives
My brother would have killed himself
And I'd either be in jail on DUI or dead for the same reason

We all like to think that the grass would've been greener on the other side
But those of us who have matured recognize such thoughts as irrational and have come to accept the order and relative security that our lifestyles grant us

I'd probably have the motivation take my subpar trumpet and piano skills at a virtuoso level.

If "otaku culture" wouldn't exist , I would watch normal movies instead of anime, if I wouldn't have a computer I would watch TV If I wouldn't watch TV I would listen to radio if I wouldn't have radio I would read books all the time , if I wouldn't have books I would propably play with some toys If I wouldn't have anything. I would spent my life staring at the wall untill I go insane.

My life already has no meaning, but VN's are just about the only thing I do aside from lurk on /jp/

I could have been a contender.

It's a part of my life. It hasn't made it better or worse because my life would not be my life without it.

Much better. Nothing else immerses me and makes me forget about my life this well.

Maybe I would have read a lot more books instead. But I'm glad I have all of these things to make my days a little less painful. And talking about them with other people is even better.

I actually know this line from the movie we watched in history class in high school a few years ago.

It was staring the guy that played The Godfather in the Godfather. The don or something. He says it in the vehicle, I think?

Good movie, it was really emotionally when the train zoomed by when he was talking with the girl, such good directing. We don't got that now. :/

Whether or not grorious Nippon exists has no bearing on that. I'll not kid myself.

I have other hobbies so I'd be a loser either way. I guess I'd get kind of lonely without my cartoon waifus, fictional western girls just can't compare.

I'd probably be wasting away if there was no otaku culture. They motivate me to try my best for some weird reason.
