I like to ponder the impossible.

Given that Koakuma is a demon, would holy devices and exorcism harm her? Assume that Koakuma is actually a gentle natured demon, acting against her nature.

And if she is immune to them (since the deity behind such holy artifacts does not damn her), then does it mean that she might be on the brink of redemption?

From what I am reading, they serve to help increase the summoners abilities, rather than being mindless servants. They reflected the summoner's personality, evil witches would get malevolent demons, more noble individuals would get fairies.

Her description describes her as mischievous and emotional, but apparently not downright malevolent.

I like religious girls in anime. There need to be more nuns that are sensitive, caring, and well-developed characters that have more to them than ``lol im a nun". A series about a small monastery (slice of life comedy?) could be pretty good. Or a series about the church fighting against demons, kinda like in Alucard. Father Anderson was so cool.

Is it the deity behind the artifacts or the faith in their power that would do the damage? If it's the latter, they would probably effect her; god knows she's no trouble, but the religion as a whole doesn't.

I wonder if Koakuma is afraid of holy artifacts? If you threatened her with a cross, how would she react?

She faced at least one shrine maiden with purification abilities, so it seems that devils with a keen interest in books and hot chocolate are safe.

That's not true really. Most magicians are ordinary people whose abilities are granted to them by their familiar spirit. It's the familiar who is the master, even if it might seem different from an outsider's perspective: most of the things a magician does are to keep his familiar content.

I suppose it might be different for someone who already had real power of his own and just had a familiar as a convenience.

I can see Patchouli summoning up Koa just out of laziness/to make up for her lack of physical capabilities some. Let Koa take care of the manual labor part of her experiments and the like.

Problem is there really isn't any significant explanation or ground work on what kind of magical system is at use in Touhou. So many important details just aren't there or vague'd over, which is a gigantic annoyance for me because sometimes that shit is important goddamnit.
