I'm taking forever to finish the first one because I can't stand playing through more than 3-4 dungeons a week because of the layout being lazy as fuck

I can stand PS2-tier graphics, encounter rate is a bit high but you can deal with it by disabling them, but why are the fucking dungeons so boring?
How hard is it to have more than 6 different graphic sets for them?
Not to mention some time they even re-use entire maps, fucking hell
Doesn't help that the battles are kinda slow and nisa + neptune pretty much steamrolls everything

Encounter-rate high? It's exactly(!) 20seconds(!) of running. That's high? If you call monsters, which I pretty much always did, you have a whopping 60seconds of running. Add to that the 20seconds you have anyway, and you fight your random battles after around 75seconds of running through the dungeon. It's LOW. Even without the monster calling it would be low.

Oh and for what it's worth, I also enjoyed the gameplay. The battles were short and usually not annoying, decently balanced etc. Add to that the very low encounter rate and no grinding. Even the level-cap was nice. Got platin at lvl98, including all dlc-dungeons. (It's not good if a game maxes you out way too early.. Mass Effect.. half of the game beaten, max money, max level, best equip. Great.)

The Japanese voices will be fully intact, but due to budget restraints and the massive cast of the game, we chose the most interesting and story-relevant scenes to voice in English. A lot of this is due to the battle line count—when we have a budget for, say, 6,000 lines and battle lines turn out to be around 3,000 for all of the characters, we have to pick and choose. We were able to get a near-full US audio track in the first game because there weren’t many characters. There were about nine main roles in Neptunia (since we only did battle lines for Red and 5pb., I am not counting them), but Neptunia mk2 has over twenty! It’s a huge cast and a huge game, so we’ve opted to voice as much as possible to give each character a roughly equivalent representation.

Try again. Rogue Galaxy's combat is its weakest link. Even worse than the story and that says A LOT. It was TERRIBLE. Every fucking time:
1) Enter menu, choose strong "hit all" special attack
2) Clear, what's left, usually only "special" monsters.
Special monsters needed special weapons, or other stuff, before you could damage them. At first not bad, but quickly way too annoying.
Fighting normally wasn't even possible, with the bad AI, the huge damage you take etc.
Terrible combat. Worse than Neptunia's.

In Neptunia you are at least done, after some nice hit-all attacks. Also one battle every ~75seconds where you transform at the beginning and then quickly dispose of all monsters.
Even without the hit-all stuff it doesn't take that long, thanks to the magic of "skip animation".
And in harder battles you could at least try to break the enemy ASAP and then deal as much damage as possible in its break status. Not much, but it's something. And battles end fast. It's already quite rare when bosses act three times.

Biggest problem I have with the game is the Battle bindings.

You combo with X [ ] and /\. If you don't have enough AP you return to the previous menu. If you combo let's say X [ ] [ ] and you press [ ] once more you go in HDD mode and waste 100 SP. Or if you are unlucky and are already in HDD mode... you end it. This happens because there is no feedback that tells you that you left the combo phase.

Same shit with O. O acts as Item and end turn button. Yes...

Apparently I need to repeat it again: The encounter-rate of Neptunia 1 is LOW. 20seconds of running + ability to fight more monsters in a row which gives you 80seconds of running afterwards. And even the monster-call battles end fast. First transform and then 1 Neptune-Break per battle and you are done. Later you use Black Heart's group shoot attacks, which rape EVERY random encounter easily in one turn. Even if you have to transform first..

No level-ups needed. The share-"grinding" is very minimal. You can also easily combine that with some good EXP. Really the shortest dungeons take not even a minute. Maybe 2 hours of share grinding later on really isn't much. Compare that to NIER where at least half the game is grinding. Or final fantasy 13, which is just inhuman. Of course I don't know where Neptunia 2 stands, but Nep1 basically had no grinding whatsoever. Even AT3 had more because lvl99 was needed for a trophy. (+ the money-trophy..)

10 hours in and daaamn, this game is so much better than the first one. The battle system is really cool and you don't have to grind that much if you use good tactics.
I use Nepgear and Nippon Ichi to deal damage and Compa and Gust as healers. Buy some health potions and that'll easily get you through every battle.
Does anyone know how the yuri meter works? I want to go for Uni or maybe Ram/Rom. But Gust would be nice too.

The images I refer to as 'costumes' are used by mk2's 'Creative Canvas' feature to change the look of Nepgear in her HDD form. All costume images have to be 1024px x 1024 px, otherwise some seriously ugly upscaling will occur. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

How to load the costumes into your game:

1) Save whichever costumes you like, and transfer the costumes you have chosen onto a memory stick of your choice. Create a folder called 'IMAGES' (without the '), and put the file(s) there. Alternatively, you could simply start up the PS3's own Internet browser, navigate here, and save whichever costumes you may like.

2) Plug your memory stick into one of your PS3's USB slots, go to the 'Photo' tab on the XMB, scroll down to 'USB Device', press triangle, and select 'Display All'. Then proceed to copy the image(s) onto your PS3.

3) Load up the game, open the equipment menu, and while having Nepgear selected as the character, scroll down to her HDD equips. Hover the mouse over the core piece and press the 'Select' button on your controller. Then just proceed to choose whichever costume you want to use.
