I wanted to try TERA but it looks like I'm too late to get a beta key from Amazon.

I started Dragon Nest some days ago, and yeah it does feel play to win but the gameplay is fun so I don't care. I get bored of them after 1 month anyway.

I played an MMO once. it wasn't enjoyable at all!

Fuck MMOs, whenever I play one it's literally the only thing I do until I quit playing. It's not worth it.

I play dfo but I don't see the point of making a guild. The games population really went down the shitter leaving no decent people and a lot of raging autists (the bad kind, not like you, /jp/), hostile $W4Gsters, general faggots and chinese and it seems there's nothing nexon can do that will make the population ever rise again. The new quick-party is pretty much completely ignored because there's nobody on who cares and almost half the people I manually partied with have no idea it exists.

I wish to play the korean or even the japanese version, which has 50-200x the population of entire north america dfo and arguably better community, but they set up so many fucking roadblocks and security shit that it's pointless.

It seems to be mainly people who think it is WoW but with skill that hype it up.

I think the only part that really makes it sound interesting is Elins, and those you have to mod back to enjoy.

I like Tera. Warrior is pretty fun, especially since I'm in the /v/ guild which is at war with 5 other guilds right now.

The game is very rewarding. Almost everything you do/accomplish in the game feels amazing. Everything from dodging an attack into a backstab to finally getting your +6 bonus.

That game was a painful lesson. I was an avid MMO player for years before that, and haven't gone back to one since (sword girls and WoT don't count, one is a card game and one is a FPS in a tank).

But pvp in most mmos are completely different. DFO pvp is pretty much a full featured fighting game. It's fun, exciting (in that people who seem to be losing can make thrilling comebacks), fast paced, individual (a big plus for me, it means I don't get to blame others for my shortcomings) and you use your head alot. RO's WoE is team based and can be pretty drawn out. I'm also not too big on team pvp, since I hate people and can't communicate for shit. I also hate being locked in the losing team for extended periods of time with nothing I can possibly do to turn the tables (LoL and wow bgs for example).

Well unless you feel burned out from fighting players in general, then I guess there lies the problem. But I guess you can just look at pvp as more exciting, tougher bosses who shit talk you at the same time.

I want to say DFO pvp is skill based and while it is true, there are many utter faggots who will spend gorrillions of dollars buying gold and avatars to get a full set of rare avatars with the highest grade emblems, full sets of legacy gear with the rarest enchants, +12 or higher pinks and all kinds of shitty autistic fuckery just to get the obvious upper hand on you on gear. While it's technically not against the rules or code of honor to do that shit, it's obviously frowned upon for pvp seeing as to how Fair Arena got implemented and prior to that, even the best wargods use tournament rules/gear instead of fucking around grinding all day for shit and gold.

I personally can't wait for fair arena to hit north america. That is the ONLY update nexon can make that will rekindle long-term interest in players for dfo. That's it. If that doesn't do it, nothing will. Innovation, third impact and all those misc rebalance and content updates mean absolutely jack shit to players who quit/got fed up with nexonshit.

I suppose I'm part of the minority in saying that I actually enjoy the bro-op experience more than the competitive experience, but to each their own I guess. I've also had a bad habit of altaholism, as even though you see my summ is 61, I barely even got the sheer willpower to level her to 60 in the first place, in lieu of making new alts to level with people that I COULD party with. You can switch class when ever you want. You have to level up certain classes to unlock other ones though. For example, to be a samurai you need a character level of 60, warrior level 55, and martial artist 55.

Maplestory.. just no.
DFO isn't really my type of thing, not into fighting games.
All the "current" MMOs are the same walk between NPCs and then click lock a target and smash your skill bar. RO only gets a pass on that because its over 10 years old.

Quests are such a pain, and they give you way too many so your quest thing is always fucking full and by the time you get to them you've outleveled them and its wasted EXP. They're cramming more and more quests into games because they realized theres no way to make combat fun nor interesting anymore, with the exception of TERA maybe.

They won't ask you something unless they're almost sure you know the answer (you're the same class as they are, you're wearing a hat they also want, etc).

They're very tolerable these days and there aren't as many of them any more anyway. If you're looking for a nationality to hate and avoid, consider filipinos instead. Those annoying fuckers will never ever quit RO ever. Ever. And they have the most autistic boner for RO and I cannot even fathom why. They're also all hostile and rude and can never take it easy. A little more background on the game, for those who aren't familiar.

Grid-based, tactical, turn-based, in the style of FFT. A major point for me, I love grid-based "tactics" games. There're 12 classes on release (wednesday) with a total of 14 planned. Each class comes in male and little girl versions. Standard resource/crafting grinding, pets, etc. No pay-for-power, but they will have a pay-for-cosmetic-only-equipment store. The tutorial area and first nation are FTP in, but if you like the game and want access to the rest, it's P2P, $6/month...so cheap even a NEET can afford it, if you skip eating a few extra days.

I suggest you try it out, at least...well, on Wednesday, anyway, when it comes out.

Yeah, the classes were/are pretty imbalanced, but they're still working on it. For example, in the patch before the end of OB they brought the Sram down from unequivocally the best to just pretty-good. They still have a ways to go, though. I'm hoping they have them at least -almost- balanced out in a couple months. I play Sadida, and they seem pretty middle or upper-middle at the moment, so they probably won't/don't need changed much.
