How is it dickwaving? I just think it's interesting how the characters are always loosing and gaining in popularity. I don't care much whether or not the characters I like are popular, but it's still interesting to gauge the trends in the fandom.

Yuuka will surely drop a lot this year.
Sanae and Youmu will most likely gain a little. while Sakuya might drop.
Satori and Mokou are very hard to judge how they'll do.

It's hard to decide who is supposed to win.

I think Youmu especially will go up. Sanae will probably too, but not as much. I don't think anyone is even close to threatening Reimu at this point. Sanae had her chance and blew it, and I don't think Sakuya's got it.

Yes, this is pretty obvious... hard to say which one of them that will do the best though. I might say Yoshika, but that might only be because Futo's popularity is harder to gauge at this point.

I wonder how far they'll go. I'm guessing something like 28th or 29th at the very best.

I also wonder how Flandre will do. She feels really out of place in the high tops for some reason.

So in the first column, top to bottom, it has the Windows games, and goes:
Touhou Series (just Reimu and Marisa), TD, DS, UFO, SA, SWR, MoF, PoFV, IaMP, IN, PCB, and EoSD.

The second column, from top-to-bottom, first has the five PC-98 games at the top: MS, LLS, PoDD, SoEW, and HRtP.

Next is...whatever Maribel and Renko are in, followe by Perfect Memento in Strict Sense (just Hieda no Akyuu). Fifth last is Curiosities of Lotus Asia, fourth last is the Touhou Sangetsusei series (e.g. Oriental Sacred Place), third last is the Touhou Bougetsushou series (e.g. Silent Sinner in Blue), second last is the Wild and Horned Hermit comic, and the last option is miscellaneous.

I think Kasen will be one of the characters to increase the most, easily. Nue will probably increase as well, she feels like one of the few UFO characters who has a chance at a bigger gain. Kogasa might as well, but I'm not as sure about her... Nazrin already started dropping a little last year, with Shou increasing a little instead.

Alice? Well, actually she's always ranked very highly, I'm just surprised whenever Marisa or Reimu aren't winning (so far at least).

Also it's cool to note Futo's in 21st, already more popular than the likes of some old standbys such as Reisen and Suika. Although to my knowledge Suika's actually never been that popular to begin with. I really like Futo, so I hope she continues to gain. Miko's doing surprisingly bad at 48th; I was under the impression people liked her about as much as Futo, although maybe I just haven't been paying much attention lately.

Also interesting is that Sanae's fallen a lot, after being fairly dominating recently, and Yuuka's still got a huge boost in popularity relative to a few years ago.

Nobody has to go to Hell in the Touhou universe. You can choose to avoid it any number of ways. For example:
-Immortality (Marisa has already been seeking this)
-Nirvana (unlikely, but highly possible if she lives for thousands of years into the future, which she could do if she became a youkai)

I am somewhat baffled about Alice being first right now, though. Granted, she'd have been one of my votes if you could vote for, say, 10 characters. But I don't remember anything released in the past year that'd give her that boost. Oh, well.

Oh, and about 1st place history. Sakuya tied for first with Marisa in the very first poll (with 95 votes!), and won it outright in the second. I haven't ever seen anyone seen any Reimu fan being an ass about her winning. There was a lot of stuff about Yuuka scoring third last year and Sanae being second the year before that, but most of that was mostly people just being cheerful and supportive of characters that they loved. And that was mostly on communities like Pixiv, I barely saw any of that among western fans. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I just can't recall anything like that.

If Alice does get 1st place well, I guess there'll be some sort of shitstorm and I'm honestly not 100% comfortable with her winning, but at the same time, I feel it could be worse.

I agree that the video's immense popularity was a big factor, but I'd like to note that the model itself is really high quality and would have been very popular with or without the video. Actually, the video was most likely so successful because of the models(it was their debut video), there were a lot of great competitors in that MMD cup but competing against a revolutionary Touhou model is tough. Not that the video didn't deserve to win on its own merits.

Before that video the best Alice model was probably the 3D custom girl edits, which were alright but not really that great.

See, I didn't even think about things like the MMD Cup with regards to this poll. I've barely even watched any of those videos, but after seeing the Sweet Magic one, I can see why it's so popular. Great-looking models, good dancing, and a pretty catchy song. That does help explain to me why Alice is doing so well this time around (and why Marisa is also making a bit of a comeback this year). Of course, it could be that Twitter voters are just really vocal, but it probably won't be that far off.

The MMD cup that video was featured in occurred half a year ago or more. Perhaps you're talking about a different Alice model? There may have been another good non-TDCG Alice model available at the time, but the Sweet Magic MMD cup video done by Skyhollow was the debut of the Nigamon Alice model. He never distributed the Marisa model.

The point is to make that graph for every Touhou, it seems to be the main reason this spreadsheet was created in the first place. It would still be a pain to post over 80 of them, though.

Anyways: blue line - actual votes, red line - expected number, which I assume is total number of votes for Touhou in that column times the percentage of people that voted for Touhou for which the chart is made.

This one's for Mystia. Liking Mystia makes you like Rumia, Kogasa, Daiyousei and Kyouko (more than, say, Wriggle or Cirno, for some reason). It also makes you more likely to vote for Tokiko than to vote for Sakuya, Reimu or Marisa.
