Does /jp/ play mapgames? EU3, HoI, Victoria?

Crusader Kings 2 is coming out today, you get to be a duke or a king during the middle ages and you can even marry cute little girls and murder them.

Also, I find it pretty ridiculous that there's a My Little Pony mod for Victoria 2, but not a Touhou mod.

Please buy it and support Paradox so Johan can fix Vicky2's broken economy and politics system.

No, fuck them.

DLC before the game release, really? Just how greedy and retarded can you get, Paradox? Couldn't they at least just make a higher price for CK2 and include those mongoloid faces in game instead of selling them as DLC.

Yeah, that is pretty silly. It's not like it's anything that major, though. What you really should be angry about is A House Divided, which came out broken, didn't add anything particularly important, and cost as much as Victoria 2 did, basically. At least you get the CK2 DLC for free if you preorder.

I think we can all agree that Paradox sucks at releasing games, since they always come out unfinished.

Ive played CK2 for four hours and still dont have a clue what the fucks going on

Any pointers? I just kinda send out my advisors to do stuff and am trying to raise relations with some chick to deposit my seed in

It's a lot less streamlined and focused than other Paradox games. Basically, flail around, assassinate people, invade a Muslim or two, pay some mercs, and get relations with the Pope up so you can conquer your neighbouring Dukes' land. And don't piss off your liege. That is of course assuming you're playing a duke or whatever, playing a King is shitty since there's a billion people trying to kill you and it's hard to accomplish anything.

Thanks, I'll try some of that stuff. And yeah i'm the Duke of Holland, some 12 year old boy in charge of two provinces (or realms, demenses, dukedoms, counties, whatever the hell they call them).

Uhhh yeah. Fuck those addons. Why is it so hard to release a complete game, fuckin bandai shits. Especially those TW Rome adds sucked ass because unless you are using the fan patch you can't play Rome game with all the addons. Instead you can only play them separately: Alexander, Barbarian invasion etc. AoE 3 also sucked ass for the same reasons as TW Rome.

I play EU3. I like to play as Bohemia and Fujiwara.

Crusader Kings was my favorite Paradox game of all time and one of my favorite games period.
You bet your ass I'm excited and have II preordered.

I've been playing paradox games for years now. They're pretty enjoyable, and I always love the alternate history possibilities.

Preordered CK2, trying to go for a challenge by playing as one of the French counts right now and seeing how far I can go.

I like the Scandinavian countries in EU3, but they can get pretty boring after a few games. Wage a few wars, form the Kalmar Union, colonize. Meh. Forming the HRE or Germany as Bavaria, for example, is also cool. Recently though, I've been playing with Persia and some Asian countries, and it's all good fun. I'd recommend trying the Miscmods mod as it adds a few new starting scenarios that are pretty great.

As for CK2, I played the press release for a bit a few months ago, and the Italian states seemed pretty fun to play for a beginner. Not sure who I'll do when the game comes out, I've got it preordered too.

Is that Darkest Hour? I don't recall seeing that scenario.

I like Georgia because it's always exciting.
And I think Crusader Kings is a lot more in depth than EUIII. I played CK before EU, so I guess I just got used to it and liked it more. When I went to EUIII and found that technology was just some bar I put funding into, I felt that the game was dumbed down. The game can get complicated, but it's at a smaller scale so it's not too hard once you get used to it. All Paradox games seem hard and confusing at first.

My tip is to play as an Orthodox country near the middle east. That's where the action is. Normal European countries are boring because you need a casus belli for everything and the HRE and the Pop will be dicks to you. You can invade a neighbor without them waving fingers at you. And then there are crusades.

Meanwhile, in Georgia
>Vassalize all the nearby Christian territories
>Annex all the tiny Muslim/Pagan nations
>Annex the Itil Jews and steal their gold, become rich
>Steal Byzantine and Arab technologies
>Import fertile Swedish lolis as brides
>Casus bellis? Fuck that, Holy War everything, not a single fuck
>Seljuks and Cumins always breathing down your throat
>Byzantines saving your ass
>Pope calls a crusade, Orthodox countries don't care
>Meanwhile, hundreds of troops from Europe flood your neighboring enemies and occupy the Arab and Turkish troops
>Invade Seljuks while they are busy
>Steal the Holy Land for the true faith while Catholic Crusaders have a scimitar up their ass
>Byzantine Empire collapses
>All their vassals become yours and swear to you
>Retake all of Byzantium and Armenia
>Fuck Seljuk Turks up
>New Holy Georgian Empire
>Suddenly, Mongol Hordes on your doorstep
>Not one but two
Shit's always happening.
And I am quoting my previous games.

I remember when, during the biggest crusade in my game, I finally destroyed the Seljuk Turks -the biggest Muslim enemy in the game who has been my arch enemy for years-, force vassalized their capital, stole their titles, and forced the Sultan's loli daughter, the only remaining Seljuk decedent as I assassinated the rest, to marry one of my many grandchildren. It was good times.
However I don't think you can force vassalize heathens in the new game. A shame.

Another thing that I always try in my games is to get as many people related to my family tree as possible. Near the end of that game, through clever marriages and assassinations, all the major European countries were ruled by my family. Not only was the Emperor of the HRE a blood relative, but somehow I even got most of the Arabs to become blood relatives. However that was an accident. It's fun trying to get all of Europe to be related to you.

Another thing I dislikes about EUIII, family trees and marriages were a joke. No more grand family schemes.
