That looks nice. I want a burger now.
Though I just ate six slices of toast so I'll probably be full by the time my brain catches up with my stomach. Maybe I'll just get more drunk and eat more toast and pretend it's burgers.

>> No.8557649

What kind of meat did you use? If you're having burgers for dinner you should really go and ask the butcher to grind some chuck for you. Add an egg, bread crumbs, salt and pepper and form them flatter than normal because they'll contract when heated. Put them in a pan over medium medium-high heat and flip when juices pool on top of the burger. Don't press down on them because that dries them out.

-Add ketchup/chili sauce (Heinz works wonder).
-Add black pepper.
-Add either ten parts Sambal Oelek or one part Habanero.

If the burgers get a slightly orange hue about halfway through frying, you should be on the right track.

Oh and also before cooking make sure the items aren't terribly cold. Beef is better cooked from room temperature.

It's 2012. You don't have to put effort into your food any more.

You losers remind me of an aunt I have who hates dishwashers because she "prefers hand-washed cutlery", despite the fact that a dishwasher does a better job than her.

I wish I lived in America. You guys have awesome taste. I'm serious, I fucking hate ordering shit anywhere in Europe and it comes with all this salad and whatever. Americans understand that I want things big and I want them relatively plain.

Why do you hate our planet

Your first instruction involved going to a specific type of store and interacting with a person in an obnoxious way. Fuck you and your high standards if that's how you start a "simple and straightforward" procedure.

I don't think you understand. Because of my overwhelming autism I have to eat everything almost completely plain, and my life was a living hell becuase of it.

American cooks don't understand what the word means, they can't fathom it. Plain? Just cheese, half a garden, and a gallon of sauce? Or my personal favorite, "You mean without bread?".

In the end it was a pointless fight and I don't eat out anymore. Not that it was a big loss, it's way overpriced, doesn't taste all that good, and is rather unhealthy.

In short, you can't order something plain in this country.

The planet is fine, I can't do shit to the planet.

But more importantly, what has the fucking planet ever done for me? I'll be ending my own life soon enough, I can hardly spare the compassion for something as long lived and alien as the fucking planet.

If the kids these days are so worried about a little plastic, then they can go to school and figure out a way to deal with it all, after all it's their problem, not mine.

Homemade burgers are fucking awesome compared to what you can get for relatively cheap at all hours of the day.

One of the reasons I'd actually want to be NEET and goof around at home all day would be having all the time in the world for cooking for myself.

I prefer my glasses washed by hand.
Especially the wine glasses.

That's basically what I do. My parents give me money for food and I cook for them, so I get to make and try out a lot of different kinds of foods.

I also prefer handwashed glasses because the water is hard here and will leave spots unless wiped after cleaning.

Do this, and make a thumb imprint in the middle of the patty, it will look slightly less bloated. I also like putting the salt and pepper on the burger instead of incorporating it into the mix, but that's just my personal preference.

If you really want to have only yourself to blame with any kind of food, you can always try making whatever you can at home. For burgers, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, pickles, and bread can be made at home fairly easily. Making cheese is a bit harder but doable with some practice.

That sounds pretty nice.
Same thing here about the water.

I live in a dorm apartment with a shared kitchen, so obviously I don't have a lot of money to throw around on a nice set of razor-sharp sushi knives, and I think my kitchen is both too cramped and too shitty to go all out in.

But one day I'll have a nice kitchen and some nice cooking utensils, then I'll get some fresh fish of various kinds, have a friend or two over, and make delicious sushi to eat while we get drunk as fuck and talk about how I fail at life outside of my house.

>Eggs, breadcrumbs, etc.

Sugoi meatloaf, aniki.

Ground chuck is a good start. Ground sirloin if you want to get lean. If you go the "meatloaf" burger route add some mustard to it (mustard spice, not condiment) and a small amount of chopped onion.

Otherwise my favorite way is to take the meat, and assuming 1.5-2 lbs or so, add a thumb-sized amount of a Worcestershire and barbecue sauce to it.

Frying burgers is good but it's greasy. If you have an oven with a broiler setting, put the rack up high and cook it for 10 minutes on the first side (for a ~1'' patty) and 6-7 on the other for a nice medium rare. A good rule of thumb for it being done is if it's no longer too squishy when you poke it in the middle. This is all if you can't grill it of course (and I dunno about where you are but it's cold and windy over here).

The cheese would be the one thing I'd just go outside to buy.
Specialist wine and cheese dealers don't have an awful lot of customers most of the time, and some will even let you try samples of cheese if you can't decide what to get.

But if you really want to make it yourself, the one thing to be extremely anal about is cleanliness. Like when you make beer.
Get the wrong bacterias in the mix, and you'll get shitty cheese. If it'll even turn to cheese.

10L of milk gives about 1kg of cheese.

I only ever had burgers without eggs once, and they fell apart. That may have been because of how they were formed (thin in some parts) or because of nothing to hold them together. I suppose if you're decent at forming patties you can do it without the egg. That's just how I've always done it and how my parents did it.

I enjoyed your input.

Get drunk, cook anything, pretend it's something better.
I only eat premade stuff sober, but after I'm drunk, I'm the goddamn iron chef.
I just put tons of diced peppers, onions and garlic in everything and it kicks ass. (works for burgers too!)
