Can someone please suggest a VN where the protagonist isn't an average student?

I'm so sick of looking through VNs and seeing the same synopsis over and over again: 'I'm just an average high school student, blah blah blah....'

Immortal wrestling unrelated.

I was thinking about this yesterday.
As a follow-up to OP's request:
Are there any VNs where the character isn't 13-18 years old?

I always feel bad playing VNs where the student is in high school or whatever because it just makes me depressed how much I wasted my teenage years, and I can't connect to the character.
I guess I can extend this request to anime/LNs/manga/novels/whatever, since I really enjoyed all the versions of NHK ni Youkoso.

That's generally how stories work. At the very least you should understand the character and think, "Hey, I get what this guy is going for" in a given situation, even if you don't entirely agree with him. Whether you're aware of it or not.

That's pretty much it, I don't relate to the characters.

>> No.8544057

>>8543963

Those two things are different. But if you cannot relate to the character, or at least find them interesting, the story might not have much value for you.

I think most people, Japanese or not, read visual novels precisely because they missed out, and likely are missing out now. Despite the shitposting, /jp/ is mostly college-aged. We can never again be high school students. That world is closed to us forever. So maybe the only way we can feel any of it is through fantasy.

But that doesn't seem like the answer if it's making you sad and reminding you of it.

Expanding a little on the subject, are there doujinshi where faceless males are being raped or sexually abused by women? I mean, you always see faceless men getting it on with women, I wish I could have the opposite for a change.

I like Remember 11. The two protagonists are college-age kids dealing with a crisis while solving a mystery. The male comes off more as a smart college graduate, maybe he is one I don't remember.

I strongly disagree. Tailored self-insert protagonists make everything predictable, bland and annoying. I want a story, not an ego trip. Who the heck invented this shit?

I don't care about this "just an average high school student" trope. It can be a setup for a nice plot anyway. What bugs me is that they are more often than not total idiots. The stupidity of the MCs is astonishing.

Even worse, most of them are bland as it gets. Even stupid people can have a personality. Sadly, they don't. Give me a MC with some character, ffs.

I really enjoyed the strangeness and the whole attitude Okabe had but what made me like the character even more was how fast he dropped the mad scientist act once things got really serious and how much he really cared about every single character and how hard it was for him to erase their memories.

He is really such a good-hearted guy, which is revealed through the flashback to Mayuri on her granny's grave and all the crises he has to deal with.

When I saw how he had to put up the Hououin facade when erasing the Dmail from SERNs server just so he could be able to pull through it really broke my heart. Especialy when Mayuri says "It's okay, you can stop now" in the β world line.

I think the similarities between him and Dr. Nakabachi are also really interesting, although Okabe is ultimately not such a crazed maniac. It's funny how Faris and Kurisu pick up on that in the Drama CD.
