Also if you want help with the Japanese language, you want >>>/lang/

Not OP but I find this sort of thing really cute.
Can we at least post random pictures and guides and whatever?

OP again. No luck so far but gonna upload pics of the American Dog booklet.

Does anyone else want pics of my bento equips? I just got in a modern triangular bento with built in fork for my sis. She wants me to start making her some decoben.

My sister's and my own personal box. I never took pics of the bentos I made. Maybe I shall since I'm doing a a splice of Japanese, American, and Mexican cuisines when I make mine.

I actually made sure that they tasted good.

The hello kitty was mayo and tuna on the inside.

And the bear was layers of honey ham.

Because usually they are only for looks.

It's really simple! Just think of food that you normally eat for lunch and then miniturize the amounts in your bento container. Use lettuce leaves and cupcake papers/silicone cups to separate your foods. That's a basic non cute one. After you master the basics you can start thinking themes for your lunches. Ex. Flower bouquet, 3 little piggies, Mickey Mouse, etc.

I want to mant fried kind of tempura stuff but I guess that will never happen...

Keep in mind this is a board mostly populated by shut-ins. I don't think you can get miniature ramen or take-away pizzas.

All I eat are permutations of chicken + bread which I guess is possible to make into a bento, but it would be pretty plain (otherwise I wouldn't eat it) and ultimately pointless.

>> No.8526973

>>8526955

Well you can always get decent/cheap cookware from thrift stores. It's not complicated just don't be intimidated. Look up bento blogs that's how I started.

You don't even need japanese items for it to be a bento. You could use a tupperware container for all I care.

Justbento.com is a solid place to start.

I've actually seen some bentos use cooked ramen as an ingredient and there are people who make some homemade mini pizzas.

Half the board has social anxiety and can't even talk to a delivery man, I would imagine that would cause someone to be pretty good and creative with cooking.

I'm personally a good cook, it just bores the shit out of me.

Actually I got creative with this itself. I always order from the same place which allows me to order online, and in the "extra details" field I put something like, "Leave pizza at the back door. Money is under the step." It's worked so far.

I've seen a few internet people do this (one of my favorites was someone who basically just ordered bread), but I'd be scared in case they hated me and spat in all my future orders. Not everyone is a quirky, easygoing person who appreciates being told to carve "awesomefaces" into food.

>> No.8527085

True but as long as it's simple enough. Even the bread thing was easy because well you just cooked the bread in the oven and it got delivered.

The napkin thing was pushing it though imo.

I'm super sorry but I'm getting dragged out of the house to do some shopping and stuff, when I'm back I'll try really hard to piece together what it says.

I'm not a great translator but I'll be able to at least get the jist of it.

What is probably most important is what you use for the corn batter, in the first part. Cause the other part is pretty straight forward.

I'll be back in 4 or 5 hours.

I'm not the person who said they'd translate, but I'm a bored translatorfag so here you go.

[Ingredients] (Makes 5 Corn Dogs)

50 g pancake mix
1 medium-sized egg
20 cc milk
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce* (or tonkatsu sauce)
5 weiners

[Instructions]
(1) Put the egg and the milk in a bowl with the Worcestershire sauce* and mix.
Finally, put in the pancake mix and stir continuously to avoid lumps.

(2) Use a small toothpick to poke 5 or 6 holes in the surface of the weiners
to let the steam escape, then insert the toothpick into the weiner.

(3) Pour a tablespoon of the mixture from step (1) into the mold, then place
the weiner into the mold.

(4) Securely lock the side buckles into place, then heat in the microwave.
(Approximately 40 seconds for a 500-watt microwave, or 30 seconds for a
700-watt microwave.)
