The translator for this project has confirmed that he has no intentions of releasing a clean patch for this game. Hopefully, we can expect a re-packed patch to be released later by a third party. I might even do it myself.

>Mahoutsukai no Yoru - Trial patch released
This refers to an English translation of a Russian translation of this trial, not the native English pretentious rewrite-level translation being carried out elsewhere. The translation seems decently readable from what I have explored, and at least it lacks the frills we've seen in screenshots of the other.

When he first post it, he asked how the hell was it 6000 lines, and he still puts single quotes around the word lines. If that actually is Aroduc's project, he did roughly 2000 lines last week, and has 3500 lines to go, so the translation should be finished in a couple weeks if he continues at that rate. That said, the translation of the scrip isn't necessary the only stuff which needs to be done, so it could take some time afterwards. There goes your only hope for Baldr Sky being translated within the next couple years. Might as well just start learning Japanese because that new guy will stall at some point.

>> No.8536146

>>8536135
If the new guy stalls then why wouldn't Ixrec pick it up? He was clearly willing to do so when Strato's stalled project was all that existed. And somehow I doubt he'll be as patient with this new guy.

Anyway, you're looking at this wrong. If the new guy DOESN'T stall then that means another VN Ixrec can translate in the time he would have done Baldr Sky, and we'll get Baldr Sky earlier because we don't have to wait for Rewrite+obligatory few months break before he starts.

Seriously, Ixwreck just can't keep his fingers out of every pie he sees. He couldn't stand the thought of not getting all the credit for Balrd Sky, but at the same time, his reputation couldn't take the infamy of snatching the translation out from under someone who was already doing it (while simultaneously abandoning Rewrite, another "populist" choice). This is the best thing he could do for himself--this way, he is "supporting the community" and "playing fair" while also stroking his own penor.

How is he taking credit? The only way most of us even know his team is involved is through his twitter, and nobody ever bothers to remember the people who worked on a project besides the translator.

Also, I seriously doubt he told his people to go work on that. More likely they were already excited to work on Baldr Sky (because he was planning on doing it later) and when another project popped up they obviously still wanted to do it, so joined up.

Jast has been around for more then a decade, and Nitroplus giving Jast 4 titles after Demonbane suggests Demonbane made money. They have got a number of high profile titles recently, even if they are focusing on fan translations, and they may be getting Steins;Gate onto Steam which would surely be a high profile release expanding outside of the typical VN audience. Peter Payne has said his titles sell well, and Jast makes a profit.

MangaGamer has actually been quickly putting out hardcopies of many of their titles ever since they made a deal with J-List, putting out two last month and have one up for preorder suggesting that those sales are at least making something as well.

We have from the broader industry stuff like Corpse Party and the upcoming Hakuoki doing decently, and there is an influx of interest by the broader community thanks to KS earlier this month.

It is not true that there is no market for VNs in the west, even if MangaGamer was set up in a way that had they not changed their approach, would surely have failed. Even if MangaGamer had/does fail, that speaks more for their stupidity then it does the Western VN market.

In an ideal scenario (and the endgame for those supporting the market) for those who don't speak Japanese, we would get all the meaningful games from a company when that company forms a partnership. Overdrive is probably the closest ideal we have right now, from them we have got all their games, however they are driving MangaGamer so it's not a surprise from them. How is this a bad thing? If you want to play that badly every shitty game that is not good enough for someone to want to translate it, you can try learning the language. If it's a good game that isn't getting translated, chances are it will get to it at some point. And if you just can't wait, then fuck off, faggot.
