You should host and tell people beforehand that you aren't very good (or even a complete beginner).

The best way to improve is to play against really good players and try to figure out what you're doing wrong/what you should do to win, but it's not always fun in long sets for the one winning since he most likely isn't improving.

When I started back in mbac days, I played on IRC so I could ask when the opponent got bored. It might be a lot harder in a thread like this.

So... yeah. Try hosting. If you can't, play short sets against people hosting (preferably beginners at first, even those will probably beat you if you are really new) and ask after for their opinion or something.

1. Pick a character
2. Go in training mode and learn that character. I don't mean flailing around trying to figure out combos. I mean getting acquainted with the normals, their ranges, their timing, which ones knock down and which ones don't, which ones overhead and which ones don't. That sort of thing.
3. Now figure out a basic combo. This will usually involve a few hits on the ground, leading to a launcher or a knock down, leading into a basic j.b j.c, dj, j.b j.c air throw combo.
4. Play people and lose.
5. Get better.

I think c-arc 22b has invincibility though. It's hard to tell if it's my poor execution or if it just doesn't have the invincibility i think it does.
I know the whole 'don't just DP all the time like a retard' thing, but in the case of c-arc it still seems like not a bad idea if your opponent doesn't ever block oki, since she can combo for 3.3k off 22b. That is... if it's actually invincible and i can actually execute it.

How weird, do other people feel the same way? I always enjoyed fighting someone even if they used the same character over and over even if they were completely destroying me or just losing.

One of the really nice things about Melty is that there's not usually a huge level of difference between the damage for expert combos and easy combos. 500-1500 damage does make a big difference in the long run, but it's not like most other fighters where either you know the only possibly way to combo or you're fucked.
