/jp/ might just be the most elitist board on 4chan. There is no sense of comradeship on /jp/, and whatever exists of the /jp/ 'community' is openly hostile not only toward newcomers, but any member that displays the slightest of individualism. While some may argue that newcomers learn the lesson of 1) using the archives and 2) lurking more by getting out of /jp/, the hostility has become THE knee-jerk reaction to any post that is not related to the original subjects of the board, which were limited to Touhou, VNs, figs and hot glue. This is the equivalent of quoting the Founding Fathers as a rhetorical device.

As we all know, /jp/ has evolved far from its original purpose as an ethnic dumping ground for anything not /a/ related, at the same time being slightly more sensible than /b/. In fact, quite a few unique memes have spawned from /jp/, giving a fresh identity to all /jp/ users who were really just dirty Gringo immigrants from /a/ with the same shitty tastes in anime. A /jp/ user would stand out like a sore thumb on /a/, as would a f/a/ggot on /jp/.

I propose that we now proclaim this board as /jp/ - Post-/jp/ Culture. This is clearly not an "otaku" board in the normal sense-- no, /jp/ has become a deviant, bastardized form of "Otaku Culture." Otaku in Japan are generally employed and spend hundreds of thousands of yen on "otaku" merchandise. In fact, akibafriends have a sense of comradeship among each other-- they are shunned by society, so they have no choice but to turn to each other for support. The 2ch'ers of Densha Otoko, while being overly dramatized and hyperbolic, is an acceptable example of this.

Otaku on /jp/, however, is synonymous with hikikomori, and which has been wrongly associated with the sociological phenomenon known as NEET. People who spend money on merchandise are despised, and the people who post in the fig/C81 upload threads are barely tolerated as it is, with /jp/ being in a complete parasitic relationship with the providers.

I say no more to this hypocrisy. We are as much "Otaku Culture" as narutards are friends of /a/nime. By accepting /jp/ as Post-/jp/ Culture, /jp/ becomes free of this grave ethical injustice of masquerading itself as "otaku culture," when /jp/ clearly is not.

Endorse /jp/ - Post-/jp/ Culture today, for justice, for humanity, for our Founding Fathers.

1.) Please tell me what movie your image is from.
2.) I, and almost all of /jp/, hate anime.
3.) /jp/ has often demonstrated a calmer and less hostile board than any other and we have the best shit posters 4chan has ever seen.
4.) We only get angry with each other when posting on outsiders' threads.
5.) You be trollin' like a mo' fo'
