* Touhou

Can you be more specific?

What kind of Touhou threads are acceptable? Is /jp/ more about touhou image dumps, hypothetical questions (which touhou fuck??), lore (shut up) discussion, or what? I don't see many /jp/ers drawing or even discussing touhou fan-art.

Same goes for visual novels. What SPECIFICALLY? I mean, I assume that if I start a thread with a picture of a visual novel and all I say is "my dick is so hard" it won't go over well. There has to be some kind of discussion there, right? Or does there? Does it matter if there's a /jp/-related discussion as long as it's wearing a thin veil of "/jp/-related interests"?

I'm asking very seriously here. This shit can be said about any of those bullet-points. I see threads that are either off-topic or have no topic get many posts, but threads with a specific topic in mind get saged and deleted. I mean, I see shit threads get yelled at too and discussion threads take off as well, but not nearly as often for some reason.

> touhou image dumps
They're fine, just don't go crazy with them and try to discuss things as well as post images. Remember that /c/ and /e/ exist.
> hypothetical questions (which touhou fuck??)
No.
> lore (shut up) discussion
Yes.
> I don't see many /jp/ers drawing or even discussing touhou fan-art.
Quite a few people draw Touhous. Check the various OC threads we have. We also discuss artists and such.
> Same goes for visual novels. What SPECIFICALLY?
Don't worry about it. People make general VN threads and VN translation threads already, so you don't have to! If you have to question whether or not something is worth making a thread for, it isn't.

Just make interesting threads. If they get deleted or die, they weren't very interesting.
Oh, and lurk more.

>> No.8461344

/jp/ is about certain specific video games and animes. All of the things we post about share a common theme if you haven't noticed by now.

You're in a very weird mood this week. Like you sort of fluctuate a lot. One day you're a good poster then you're an obvious shitposter then you're annoyingly "ironic", now you're...whatever this is. It's just strangely meta and I can't put my finger on what it is you think you're doing.

>>8461344
So if I see a troll/shitposting thread like >>8461349

Trip/namefag attention threads

You know anyone that try to police any thread is deluded. There's a limit to how much you can control any problem, and often something "hated" gets incorporated on boards' cultures.

I miss the time when /jp/ was about Touhou, visual novels and doujin games.

I still maintain that "shitposting" if a figment of most people's imagination. Just post 2D girls and you'll be fine. The current page is currently:

- Neptunia girls thread
- Moe picture of Chen
- Chubby Mugi from k-on
- Thread about Katja whipping
- "Cutest Touhou hamsters"
- Reimu thread
- Dolls

See the common theme? "Otaku Culture" in a nutshell.

I wish there was even less "rules" or guidelines. I would love to discuss anime with my fellow /jp/ anons without it getting deleted or constant redirects to /a/.

If I wanted to discuss anime with them I wouldn't have came here when the split happened. The kind of people I used to enjoy spending time with in /a/ 4~ years ago are here now, but we can't discuss shows because hurr durr touhou only gbt2 >>>/a/

Notably that was a long time ago but its the only times I've been banned and it left a mark.

But I totally agree, the only anime that gets posted is screencaps that were shit to begin with, I think this has left a sour taste in many of /jp/ers mouths, and they have a vendetta against anime here.

Look at how many /adv/ threads we've had lately, because "/adv/ sucks" and "/jp/ is the NEET board" and people "visit /jp/ the most." I don't want /jp/ to turn into /a/ just because "/jp/ is better." And I like anime.

/jp/ has no point, it's a loose collection of topics and posters around certain subsets of japanese media. If you ask me, there's space for everything here if there's genuine discussion around it.
Want to talk some anime, games that are not doujin, whatever that can be linked to japanese otaku media should be alright.

The topics are not the issue, it's the quality around them. Nobody cares about a textless screencap after more than a year of the same garbage being forced and cluttering the board.

There's also the problem that no two people can agree on what /jp/ is about, besides the goal of the split being a cleanse of non-anime/manga from /a/.

Contribute and it won't get deleted, it's been that way since forever.

I say post it in an existing thread. And only if it's related. We usually have a "general" NEET/hikikomori thread at any given time. If it's something small just say, "Hey guys I need help with this." If it's a big issue and you want lots of advice and want to blog, post it in /adv/ then link to it in the thread. That's what /adv/ is for, after all.
Though I don't mean to come off as bitter about people who need help. I basically mean people who make a thread all about themselves. It's fine to start a thread for everyone by sharing your own problems to get the ball rolling, but "HEY /jp/ I'M A NEET SO THIS BELONGS HERE LOL SO BASICALLY I NEED A JOB AND I WANT TO KILL MYSELF AND..." is just obnoxious and exactly the sort of thing /adv/ was created for.
