My family used to be rich and very supportive of me being a shut-in.

But but the economy finally took its toll and now they're telling me that they can't let me sit around idly in my room. I even heard my mom talk about kicking me out.

What do I do?

>> No.8408035

er, didn't mean to type "but" twice. I'm really in a panic right now.

>> No.8408038

Ignore it. They'll forget about it eventually.

sue them.

just as an ex-wife can leech off her ex-husband, you too can leech off your family with the right lawyer.

My family used to be poor and my parents urged me to find a job.
Now we are rich and my mother is trying to convince my father to quit his job and stay at home too.

Sucks to be you, OP.

Not now. We're really in a bad situation. My dad is trying to sell our house. They're going to buy one that is only big enough for the two of them.

This truly is the end.

If they were rich they're probably still well-off now. And while you should generally get out and make something of yourself, it's a really shitty time to do so. There's very few jobs and things are hyper-competitive. No way the average NEET stands a chance.

>> No.8408125

My parents blew all our money. We're not well off. They ruined everything.

Maybe I'm to blame too since I don't work but fuck.

>> No.8408130

My family only ever put pressure on me once to get a job, right when I turned 16. I got the job and quit soon after, telling them that I felt like they forced me to work when I saw absolutely no reason to, and that I would be taking a break for a few years. That almost six years ago and I'm still on that break. Every time they ask me about getting a job I tell them they ruined the experience for me by turning work into a type of punishment. They have only asked me a handful of times about getting a job and don't seem very bothered when I tell them I'm not going to work.

I never lived with my mother growing up because I didn't like my step-father and he was abusive towads me. About a year ago they got divorced and when I visited my mother's new house today she kept telling me that it'd be mine when she moved out. The inside of the house was creepy but it was in a nice area. I wonder if I would be able to rent it out in the future. I would prefer to live in a studio apartment or condo if possible.

What country do you live in? You should be able to sign on for some kind of welfare. Even if it's shitty, it'll take some of the burden off your parents at least.

>> No.8408141

>>8408125
I know a lot of people and currently I am unemployed. Whats funny is I have always made less money than anyone in my family but I have always had a higher standard of living than any of them. They all go out and try to get more money, but the trade off is they dont know how to spend it. They blow it all on frivolous shit. Half of their paychecks get spent on fast food and service stations.

My parents tried to act like I had a disability but they were denied welfare for it. So yeah, I dunno man.

>> No.8408148

Would there be any sort of welfare for someone who hasn't had a job yet, though?

I know in the US my only option is what amounts to disability, but I doubt they'd give me that for an anxiety disorder

>> No.8408158

I had a friend who dropped out of High School in 10th grade and just stayed at home playing games and smoking weed. He even had a kid at 20, but he didn't get along with the mother so she took the kid and moved down south. The best part is, his mom is totally fine with it.
Minus the kid, I envy him since I'll have to get a job soon.

I don't have a job either, and I dropped out of highschool because of anxiety issues I couldn't cope with.

I'd probably be alright today, but I was put on meds and forced to see a councilor back then. All you guys talk about being shut-ins like it's some kind of glorified great thing when in reality those of us who really struggle with this generally aren't very happy with it and would prefer to get a job and live well. Maybe even make our families not look at us in disappointment all the damn time.

As for your problem OP, I know it's going to be hard especially if you really have social anxiety issues or something related but you can do it if you try. I know that's cliche but we're all capable of doing great and sometimes crazy things when we have no choice.

yeah I remember when they had the student riots in the u.k. I heard how much they got each year in financial aid, it was like 10x the amount Ive gotten. The past 4-6 years Ive only accumulated about 2500 dollars in total and that's only because these past 2 years Ive going to school part-time. As soon as I get my A.A.S im gonna join the Navy so hopefully can get the job I want. Then live on my own, and then, live in relative solitude for the rest of my life while never having to talk with any one in my family ever again. I really think i could be living the normal life if it wasn't for my parents being bad at being parents.
