Okay /fig/, I have a small challenge for you.

Log into your MFC account, go into your collection manager, and check the bottom of the right column.

How much did your collection cost at RRP?

(OP) I'm the opposite, actually. I prefer posable figs, so almost all of my stuff is 1/12 or non-scale at about the same size. What isn't posable is mostly Nendoroid Petits, and thus even smaller.

>> No.8404312

>>8404301
A lot of people like nendoroids for some reason. I just dont understand the attraction to them. The figmas are cool, but often break too easily. Ive had about half a dozen different body parts snap on me... Its just not worth it to me, for something that tiny to cost the same as a 1/8th. Then again, 1/8th these days are upwards of 8000 yen for some reason. Ridiculous

>> No.8404319

>>8404312
I personally detest nendoroids, but the petits are a different story. They're good for sitting in small places like the tops of monitors etc.

I've never broken a figma, and I have thirty-something of them. I honestly don't know how people do it, unless they treat them like GI Joes or something.

Move them around alot. Hang them on things. Sometimes the pose is weak and they tumble to their death. It probably depends on the character design too. Saber has taken a lot of abuse and not broke, while almost all the lucky star group has lost limbs, and poor fate testarossa hair snapped in half.

My Figure Collection.

It's basically AniDB for figures. Atrocious community and mods, but an amazing database. I use it to keep track of all my shit, including what I have on preorder.

Seems like a pretty cool site for all the information about hundreds of figures. But why would you need this for keeping track of your figures, they're on display in your room already. And why would you need this to keep track of preorders, it's not hard to remember which things you're spending your money on.

Question for you /fig/

I have a figure related question.

Having problems to get some parts to fit. (One background screen with the bottom floor, one character set of feet to pins on floor). What is the best way to solve this?

I've been thinking that perhaps I could somehow shave off some on the top of the pins to make them more wedge formed to fit into the holes better. But I don't want to end up ruining them by doing something stupid.

If this is a good idea, with what should I sharpen the pins?

>> No.8405426

>>8405420
Boil some water, then soak the offending feet in the hot water for a few minutes then try again. The plastic will likely have softened enough that it can flex around the pin.

Normalfag wasn't the right term, I suppose.

I meant the usual Asuka/Rei/Saber/kos-mos figures that virtually every other person on MFC seems to own. I own them as well but they are as common as dirt and not worth mentioning.

(Vocaloids/BRS figures also seem to be owned by everyone there as well, but I never got around to buying any of those).

>> No.8405484

With just these figures so far I think it's a reasonable estimate that /jp/ has collectively spent several hundred thousand dollars on their hobby if not a half-million.

I wonder what we could do if we pooled our resources for something productive like /jp/ warehouse, or /jp/ manor.

>> No.8405491

W-What? Collecting figures is about buying what figures you love, and sharing it with others. Not buying a figure just because others did it, then shoving it away because it's "too common".

Leave it to a tripfuck to be a stupid narrowminded manchild. I miss the good days of /fig/

>> No.8405492

Don't get me wrong, two of my favorite figures in my collection are not even listed on my MFC page. I never said "common = bad", I just didn't feel like listing everything I owned, and went with a themed listing instead.

Pachira here was sold in every comic shop in north America, sold through diamond distributors, and it is easily one of my favorite figures of all time.

You are mixing up elitism with me being a lazy cunt, and I already admitted the "normalfag" comment was a poor choice of words.

I created an account on MFC only because someone I knew wanted a list of my cats. I didn't feel like entering everything else. I primarily use MFC as a figure database and to track upcoming releases, and I am not too keen on the MAL-style "list everything!" side of it.

If 1035 people have a particular Eva figure, I simply didn't see a point to me yelling "ME TOO!" and becoming the 1036th registered owner and then writing a fucking blog entry about it. That isn't helping anyone.

This isn't me being an elitist asshole, this is just me deciding that I have nothing worthwhile to contribute when there are already 170 photos and 27 reviews of that particular figure. I own and adore the figure, but I don't need to share that with the rest of the community or tell them the reason why.

Sorry for coming across as a figure snob.

Your mfc account is for personal usage, why would you even care about the others and how many similar figs you have?
And I have mfc-account too, nothing wrong with it, all 20 figs were added and it satisfies me. I'm just telling you it's kind of weird to call other figs "mainstream", "for normalfags", etc.
After all we all buy official figs from the same stores and it doesn't make us more "normal", worse or superior.
