Hello /jp/. I've updated my Touhou jazz torrent. As before, it attempts to include absolutely every Touhou-based song that could reasonably be called jazz. It includes albums released at C81, although I have given up waiting for fontina and tomato mist by surreacheese and トマト組.

This time, I gave it some structure that I think should help with finding the better music in here. You can read about that in the description, though.

Enjoy!

I like it because it makes me feel sophisticated and like I have better tastes than other people.

I am always amused by people who attack jazz, a sub-genre of popular music, on grounds of it somehow being more pseudosophisticated than "that other kind of pop music that *I* listen to".

You could have just pointed out that it was TOUHOU jazz music and your point would have been made.
Now you look stuck-up and pretentious.

Uhh... I think you'll find that's not what "ironic" means? I read a webcomic that told me this is not what "ironic" means. Of course it's possible it does mean what you think it means and I too am being ironic.
Not that you'd understand.

Just ignore those people, it's bad for them not anyone else. Avant-Jazz/Jazz fusion were indeed a very, very difficult styles for me to acquire a taste for, even harder than black metal, but it paid off a lot!

I've never heard "touhou jazz" so I'm interested in giving it a listen.

One of you bros here must be a jazzbro I came across a couple of times, especially when that one minor derailing we made in a Letty thread

Thank you very much OP! I'm on a Sunday here, just what I need.

Bumping for other touhoujazzfags' attention.

I forgot to ask something.

SillyHats, are the bitrates decent enough in the package? If so, can you name a few that use a high bitrate? I'm used to 320 kbps/FLAC when listening to jazz, but 256 is listenable usually. Anything below that sounds really fuzzy/crackly and quiet, so I really would rather not bother with those. The torrent is surprisingly massive, so I don't have time to wade through all of those. Thanks!

I hope you'll enjoy it! I recommend the SOUND HOLIC MEETS TOHO albums, Bugbeard (Golden City Factory), tanigon (ついったー東方部). Maybe surreacheese, flap+frog, and トマト組 too.

Unfortunately, despite how big it is, the quality sort of varies; a significant portion isn't even recorded with live instruments. I figured it was best to just include everything that was at all reasonable to include, rather than imposing my opinions too much. I think a large chunk of it isn't really worth listening to, honestly.

I guess I'm done bumping the thread; plenty of people are already in the torrent, and the thread didn't get any nicer.

In general, and in particular the newer stuff, it should be 320 or v0; anything that I got as lossless I encoded to v0.

Fortunately, those first three I recommended are almost all v0 or 320, and I think the others I recommended are probably also good. A couple of the SOUND HOLIC ones are vorbis though, and I'm actually unfamiliar with what bitrates mean what for that.

And yes, it's definitely more than is fun to wade through. If you do want to explore beyond those recommendations at all, I would recommend sticking with the full albums, as they tend to be higher quality, I feel.

My jazzbro. I know we will re-unite in a Touhou jazz thread.

surreacheese's stuff is being very, very hard to find lately. Including, 'fontina', their last two albums also didn't surface.

Sorry, I mean, 3 albums including 'fontina'.

Also, here's the last one I've seen from them. Didn't see it in the torrent. If it's there, don't mind me.
