It's funny how people always bring up Futaba's non-JP block as an example of xenophobia, when Futaba is actually one of the most internationally minded Japanese internet communities out there. Most toshiaki and 「」 are surprisingly knowledgeable about the English side of the internet and otaku culture. A lot more knowledgeable than 4channers who can't figure out the difference between Futaba and 2ch at least. There's lots of threads on Nijiura about western games, western comics, 4chan, and western otaku culture in general. If anything, 2ch would be the racist site, because of all the crazy netouyo posts there, even though most of them are made by shitposters who aren't really that serious. The same way that /b/ complains about niggers to be edgy. And even then, 90% of the hate is directed at those dirty Coreans anyway.

But I guess the people who complain about Japanese xenophobia can't or don't bother to read Japanese, so they can only judge off of an IP block designed to stop automated spam, instead of actually looking at the content of the websites.

On a more serious note, I've never worked anywhere else, so I don't know what's it's like in other countries. Here, I think it depends on your company. I like my current job because the work is somewhat interesting, but I can see that it would suck to work the same hours for the same pay at a company that I'm not interested in.
