Its been rather difficult trying to properly size up Meiling as she exists in canon. On the one hand we have material saying that only Marisa ever manages to get past her, and on the other we have her failing miserably with something as simple as taking invitations. The sleeping gag is over-exaggerated to extreme levels, even though its stated she wakes up when intruders show up anyway. Her abilities really aren't explored at all (when do you ever see her control of Qi come into play other than to shoot laser blasts and make her punches/kicks all pretty).

There's only the absolutely barest of bones when it comes to material that has her actually interacting with other characters. She doesn't even have a minor quip or hint to a possible past or origin of any kind, she's just sorta there, and you must not disturb her.

I love her anyway though.

This is my most favourite picture of Meiling. Pardon the lewdness, but to me, she looks so incredibly stunning and desirable here... She looks absolutely amazing.

If I were any good at writing, and had enough money to commission a decent artist, I'd get a doujin made where a human who appears in gensokyo and is lucky enough to get to the human village alive starts up a Gensokyo Postal Service, and meets Meiling while delivering mail to SDM. Over the course of a few months they keep meeting and slowly fall in love.

Well see there's the thing. There's practically no material at ALL when it comes to actual character interaction between Meiling and the other SDM residents. Hell I'm pretty certain the only stuff between her and Remilia are the fighting game quotes. As for the respect, its hard to say, because the only times we ever see them interact is when Meiling is being scolded for something or other. Well, here's the thing. Based on everything I've tried to collect and learn about her, it seems to me that she is simply a Joke character. Her interactions, her appearances, her "character" (she's just a Chinese person caricature). She's freaking comedic relief in actual canon. It's hard to tell because Touhou is already such a lighthearted setting, but I'd still bet dollars to donuts on it.

It also makes trying to do anything with her incredibly difficult, like trying to make a wall out of smoke. Even the relationship with Flandre, one of the few positive things for her that has a foothold in fanon, is completely made up. There's NOTHING that says the two ever even see each other.

I've occasionally liked to toy with the idea that Meiling REALLY does not care for the Spellcard Rules at all.

I mean look at it this way: The SDM moves to Gensokyo, and all of a sudden she finds out that all the years she's spent training her martial arts are meaningless, because the only way she can be allowed to keep doing her job is to shoot rainbow bullets out of her ass. It's like Sakuya being told she can't use her time manipulation during her maid duties anymore.

Of course, eventually, she would realize its probably for the best since otherwise she'd end up smeared all over the SDM's gardens by all the various high-tier characters. But she'd still hold a bit of a grudge about it, especially against Marisa due to her regularly abusing it to get past her.

I, like many of you, suffer from problems. My problems don't involve any of your implausible ones, but mine are worth voicing to you in hope of getting some advice. Anyways, I began to watch Azumanga Daioh about a month ago, and as I dove deeper and deeper into the series, the more and more I fapped to hentai of it. I continued to do so until the last episode. Then I watched the series again...and again... and again... I found myself checking out Osaka every on-screen moment she had. I began to stop going to my regular sites just to look at hentai of one person: Osaka. I eventually had 1000s of pictures and some doujins of Osaka. I began to spend what others called absurd amounts of money on merchandise, and my apartment is coated with Osaka everywhere. Nothing (to my knowledge) has ever given us a good answer as to just how the Spellcard Rules are enforced, or how people who would never have a chance to learn them all have their own Danmaku.

It's one of those subjects I generally try to stay away from because its just a big can of worms waiting to explode everywhere.
