I played iRO for a long time, but I don't really have the attention span for most MMOs. The thought of sitting there and grinding for hours on end just seems irksome to me, even in regular games I prefer to jump around to a different game every hour or two.

Rusty Hearts, beat-em-up style game with instance dungeons, pretty generic but enjoyable. think DFO gone 3D
the game has WAY too many channels, just stick to Ruska ch1 which seems to have more people.

Elsword, 2D sidescrolling, quite fun. you NEED to have at least 3-4 party members once you get into lv20 range, it's difficult (and time consuming) to solo, also stamina limit so you can only play one character for like 2-3 hours, but PVP you can do as long as you want.

Need for Speed World, it's NFS, enough said... 80% of the cars are cash-only, and the powerup system sucks, i wouldn't recommend it.

OP mabinogi seems a good enough escapism game, or is it boring you now?

La Tale- very fun. Didn't notice anything wrong with it (except that the cosmetic items are very expensive. you can buy them with the in game currency though, you just need to grind a lot) but I got tired of playing alone and quit.
Imagine- Combat is too blocky, and you have to walk a lot to go anywhere. Also everything costs a fortune. The graphics are great, but it crashes each time I load a new area for some reason. The story is set right after SMT I which is pretty interesting. you can even wear the uniform from SMT: If... but you have to buy it with real money which sucks

League of Legends- Grindfest
DOTA 2 (got it from the Steam gift pile) - only one map to play in. Gets tiring quick.
Currently waiting for Path of Exile, open beta will start in a few months I think.

How can you people afford to buy figurines and other merchandise which cost over 50 USD at the minimum (Taking shipping into account) but not a 5 or 10 dollar multiplayer-oriented videogame which can give you 30 or 50 hours of entertainment? Most MMOs are awful. I haven't tried RO or Mabi yet but I don't expect them to be very different. You guys should just buy L4D2, it's on sale for 5 USD and you can play it for 60 hours without getting tired. Shogun 2 is on sale too (7,50 USD) and a coop campaign usually takes 30 hours on average.

Been playing mabi for a few years now [Spoiler]go go tarlach server[/spoiler] and I'm still going at it. There's plenty to do and the game plays rather unique, though you will often get frustrated at Nexon's lack of competence, screwing up even the most basic of things. The game also favors those on the west coast, because if you don't live there then you're doomed to a patty existence, unless you have godly Internet. Lag pretty much determines your skill level. Be laggy, forever a noob. Also yes, nexon is moneywhore as always, though for the most part you can play free, only needing money for extra Inv space or faster leveling. I think I'm missing something, but I'd say it's worth playing, free or not. It's especially fun to camp people who leave their pvp on while they're shopping or something important! Would use proper spacing and paragraphing and a generally better post, but I'm using my iPod right now.

Is it escapism if you are playing with other people?
The only lasting ones are usually pvp arenas, like cosmic break, dota and tf2 always holding people for a long time.
Story-based pseudo rpg usually has a lifespan equal or shorter than a singleplayer game, because all mutliplayer is always just the same raids and unsatisfying pvp modes. Otherwise you are staying just to chat with the guild.
So, I don't think its about being good or free to play. Its about having actual gameplay rules.

It's pretty much a shining beacon of everything that's wrong with video games in general. The game is nothing but a mass of washed-up pop culture references, with the actual mechanics of the game making constant appeals to people who wouldn't even normally play video games. Sadly i'm not sure if there's a good quality-fun F2P MMORPG, 'cause well.. We don't live in a perfect internet world.

But here are the games I played/used to play.

Trickster Onlnie (active) - DO NOT go to Jewelia Server, as it was really over-inflated with prices on mostly... Anything needy.

Eden Eternal (hiatus) - Loving the system and 3D graphics. I can't see nothing wrong except for my lag and the spam-bots.

PangYa (inactive) - MMO golf game. Everyone should know that. I love the game so much, but GameGuard hates my avast! progrm and I don't know how to get back on. PC space as well.

Games I am dead/done for: FlyFF (LONG TIME AGO) and Luna Online (private server). Not sure if Gaia Online's "zOMG!" counts.

I would recommend making rooms on the Stanfield ship as the Distance ship is usually maxed out on rooms since it's so populated.

You guys should decide on a universal password for /jp/ games and make the room name distinguishable between the rest of the games.

PSO is a 10 year old game and hasn't aged nicely. The community is shitty but I look forward to playing with you guys as I'm one of the only two people that still plays this game on a daily basis that's from 4chan. I...I love this game to death.

I agree that I'm not happy with where WoW is/is going, but at the same time I still enjoy it more then anything else I've played. Damn near every other MMO fails at even making the game flow and control well in the most basic way possible. Movement feels stiff, the UI is unresponsive, all kinds of incredibly dumb problems.

I was in TOR beta, and it has the exact same problems I'm talking about above. It's as polished a piece of pumice, it's just painful. Are there any other games that don't fail at the most basic elements of a game?

LaTale is really nice if you live in the US or Mexico. It might not be the same when playing from Europe, due to the game handling high ping really bad (e.g. with 200ms you'll often find yourself trapped in combos during a PvP, while people with lower ping could escape easily, that's why it's better to be a tank if you have more than 150 ping).
Personally, I might start playing Dragon Nest, it's a really interesting game. The only issue would be that IP-block thing, but it's not that hard to bypass.

Used to play on the Monster Hunter Frontier Online (Korean server). Now that it has shut down, I haven't really found anything to replace it. MH is one of my favorite games, and the only MMO I've really had major interest in.

After that, I tried Fiesta Online and Runes of Magic.

Fiesta Online - Don't bother playing this. It's a huge scam. They even try to make you pay for character customization. You can't even choose your character's face, hair, etc. Stay away from it.

Runes of Magic - It was pretty good for a F2P from what I played. WoW clone.

You can never be friends if you have a high level player with a low level player. The game is very awful when that happens. I remember playing on the server my friend was playing, I made a new character. He already had a long time high level character. We basically could never enjoy doing the things we each wanted to do. I remember him trying to rush me through all the stuff and it just sucked the fun right out of the game. And when we did dungeons, there was no challenge, no fun, because he'd just windmill one-shot every room.

Really the best way to play with others is for everyone to make a new character.

Quit wow in August (10 man guild logistics are more annoying somehow than 25 man, got sick of not raiding every other week because we had two people missing and pugs are generally crap) and started playing league in October. Although APB:R is pay2win it's fun with friends. It's one of those games you only play when people get on.
Eden on the other hand is great cause if you ever get bored you can swap classes. I love Bard and Knight, they are both very strong and Bard has sugoi farming ability. Little over level 40 atm.

Played hard into Eden Eternal for a while separate from JP(hotglue was fucking retarded and anyone involved in it knew it), guild I ran fell apart and without other people the game is pretty boring.

I'm doing random daily quests on Grand Fantasia until I hit cap, but that won't take much longer and it's pretty boring at this stage.

Did the Alpha of Lime Odyssey but that game just seemed so boring. Stopped at like level 16 because it didn't really feel like there was incentive to level.

It's only pay2win in the sense that it's really easy to make money off of Ice Burners, and hence buy all the broken equipment/stones/shards you need. And if you really feel like spending more money, +10'ing your equipment.

The only major assets you would want to pay for and still do decently well in PVP are a B-slot for four more skills ($9) and a magic necklace (which can be sold in the market for ~15 mil in-game currency; not a bad price at all). And *maybe* a ring that increases a certain skill. Everything else is just costumes and aesthetics.

Aside from that, due to the team/guild stacking and lag, you should find some friends/reliable teammates to make a PVP party (a.k.a. not leave it to the retarded matchmaking system to pair you up with randoms).

Even though there's some pay2win aspects, KC was VERY generous over these past few months with sales and events that let you get costumes and the like for free or reduced price.

Oh, and to add, you start getting more bullshit matches at S and SS rank (to the point that some ex-SS ranks have deranked to face more players and farm arena points). It's only important to hit A-rank anyway, since that gives you access to the highest rank PVP equipment set, which is extremely useful and only a few equipment sets outmatch it.

Hitting A-rank isn't that hard either, provided you can play decently and avoid playing with randoms (or at the very least, find a good team that'll carry you). Ranks are dependent on WR, and I think I hit A-rank around 60-70 wins (and S-rank in ~100 wins). I haven't hit SS-rank yet though, and I'm at 145 wins...
