Hmmm undecided if I actually want to go to comiket this year or not. 4hour train ride plus hotel for a few nights might be more then its worth when I don't have much in mind to buy. Never been before though, is the atmosphere worth it?

I also heard that many shops are closed jan 1st, 2nd and 3rd in tokyo for the new years, so it woudl be shitty to stick around for a bit after.

I'm going to check out the Ryutsu convention tomorrow, since I've never been. Don't really know what to expect though. Luckily, I just moved hotels from a hotel in Akiba to one in Shiodome area, which is right on top of both the yurikamome and the tokyo monorail.

During shogatsu is when everything is on sale like crazy. You can get alot of random shit from the fukubukurou that come on sale at this time. I expect most of my second luggage is going to just be from the shit I buy during these sales, but I was mainly going for clothes.

Okay. I don't really need anything from Type Moon, Feng, or Broccoli, and those'll probably take you a while to work through, especially Type Moon... by the way, Navel's site says they're not attending, and only selling music CDs at E☆2's booth:

I've got to take care of buying doujin for a few people on Day 1, and I'm going to be tired as hell afterward, so I probably won't get around to going up to the kigyou area myself. I was the guy who did the first Comike /jp/ meetup back at C76. IIRC a girl showed up to it along with her boyfriend, but they weren't /jp/ers, and they left before we went to get drinks. Subsequently, I remember seeing a post after getting back home that day saying that the poster left the meetup right away because we were all failures at life, or something to that extent... ;_;

Other than that I don't think any girls have showed up to the meetups, or at least not the one's I've been at (and I think I've been at most of them). I wouldn't have any problem with it at all if a girl showed up, but I have to admit it might be just a little awkward, what with /jp/'s misogynistic atmosphere and all.

>Failing to buy rare company goods despite coming on the first train
This happens occasionally, and it sucks. Companies often have extra supplies for days 2 and 3, but often times they're smaller than the supply for day 1. It depends on the company. Although, day 1 is also the day that has the most people (mostly reseller faggots) lining up for kigyou stuff, so you might have a better chance of snagging stuff on day 2 or 3 if there's extra supply since there'll be less competition.

Dang, the service at your bank is not so hot then. My credit union must be one of the best because if you can give them common sense requests and info, they can do almost anything for your card or account as long as a manager approves it.

If I was in your shoes, I would have connected to my online account and posted the request to unlock the credit card. I'd also mention other info that makes them "feel better" that it really is me and that I am really in japan. I'd point out my transaction history shows i bought airline ticket, hotel, and various other expenditures for japan before the card was locked due to my error.

The main thing is to not just show them that it is me, but to prove to them it is me and also to provide certain types of info to make the manager "feel confident" that it really is me since the manager would have to approve the unlock. The key is getting the manager. A regular employee might not even suggest the manager route to you so you'd have to ask.

Did you guys meet up again today? Damn, there's no way I could have gone.

God, today was the most exhausting Day 3 ever. I guess I drank more yesterday at the /jp/ meetup than I thought, because I had a headache and dry throat all day. Ran with 2 other friends as a group of 3, and 2 of us (myself included) had tickets. Easily bought everything we needed, and then some. Left around 2:00 or so, and headed for Oimachi, which is right near Big Site, to go to the house of the dude who supplied the tickets, who we'd bought (like several ten-thousands yens worth of) books for... only to find nobody home. And the guy emails us, "Oh hey guys, I'm in Saitama taking care of some business, wait up by the station for a while, and then we can go to my house and have a couple drinks."

What business? Who the fuck knows. So we wander around outside, in the cold, lugging around shitloads of heavy, heavy doujinshi. For like 3 and a half hours. And then my friend emails us again, "Oops, sorry, my phone was off. Heading to Yokohama now to pick up some other friends so they can drink with us." What? This guy doesn't have a car. Why is he going to "pick up" people, why don't they just come to us? At this point the 3 of us are getting pretty frustrated, but we continue to wait outside in the cold for another few hours. Finally, we decide to go to a bathhouse and get warmed up (which we should have done from the start). After that, "Oh hey guys, I'm in Kawasaki now getting a bite to eat. I'll be back soon. Why don't you meet up with (other guy) in the mean time?" So we call the other guy, and he's not even anywhere near where we are. Whata fuck man.

>> No.8321735

At this point it's getting late, and we're all tired as fuck. The two friends I'm with are not from Tokyo, so they're staying at the house of the guy who's we're waiting for. They're both tired and want to sleep, but they know that even when the guy does show up, he's gonna be with a bunch of rowdy people from Nicodou/Mixi/Twitter/wherever, and they're all gonna be drinking and being loud late into the night. I'm too tired at this point to wait any longer (despite the fact that the guy we're waiting for still owes me like a hundred bucks worth of yen), so I just leave the stuff I bought for him with the other two and head home, turn on the heater, and zone out for a few hours... and now, here we are, Happy New Year /jp/.

Well at least I got everything I wanted from Day 3.

I'd watch out for the Japanese mass media if I was you. For the most part they're bastards who portray otaku as failures and then make fun of them. I've had people come up to me a couple times in Akihabara and ask for an interview, but I always turn them down.

I think they're more vicious in attacking Japanese otaku since parts of the mass media sees them as a social problem, whereas for foreigners they just make fun of them. Either way I wouldn't want to end up on the receiving end.
