IN was a nice game, but cluttered with a lot of useless character choices. Music was weaker than PCB and EoSD as well.

In the end, MoF shines above everything in all aspects. ZUN did take a bit of time with it afterall, and it shows.

Think about what was a bigger threat to Gensokyo:
- Red mist that blotted out the sun (nothing will grow everything/one would die, nothing can live without the sun)
- Eternal winter (same as above, except most living beings would eventually adapted to it, unlike eternal night)
- Fake moon (Stupidest threat ever; even when Kaguya said she'd fix everything the next day)
- A new religion (...I retract my statement for IN, THIS is the stupidest threat)
- Never played/read up on PoFV, but judging that souls are escaping the afterlife and plants are forever growing, it's not that big a threat either.

I love Yuyuko, but her threat wasn't as dire as Mr. Bur-,I mean Remilia blotting out the sun, therefore making for a better story.

The fake moon was a real threat to youkai, since they need energy from the real moon to sustain their existence. At least that's the reason in the manual; in practice none of the characters actually cared except Alice, and she cared more about trying to score with Marisa anyhow.

PoFV is probably the worst as far as actual threats go. Souls and flowers sound nice and benign until you realize these are all the angry souls of people killed in the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings, and every one of their flowers has the potential to grow into something as powerful as the Saigyou Ayakashi if left to itself.

At heart, these are shooting games. The general consensus is that MoF has the best gameplay experience on lunatic difficulty out of all the Touhou games.

That aspect alone automatically makes it the most superior game in the series.

Music is strange. As weird as this sounds, as far as I'm concerned, PCB has the best music objectively, but IN has the best music subjectively.

MoF has the best sound quality but very few songs that actually stood out to me (Fall of Fall, Grave of Being and Native Faith are the only ones I can listen to in my head on a consistent basis). EoSD is hurt a *lot* by its synths and doesn't have enough epics to make up for that in my opinion - BTD, Septette and U.N. Owen are made by their remixes, leaving only Lunar Dial and Chinese Tea to stand alone.

I couldn't stand most of EOSD's original music, but PCB and IN were great. MoF has the best *average* quality of music, but its best songs are not as good as PCB/IN.

Subterranean Animism has some serious potential though.
