Why would LttP Link go sailing? He saved Zelda, his uncle, and everyone else important to him. He can live at home and be happy. Meanwhile, Oracle Link rescues Zelda but has nowhere to go home to (he's not native to the land of either Oracle game).

When he beats Ganon in the future and goes back to the past, the future where he beat Ganon doesn't just disappear, is what they seem to be saying. What happens in that timeline is different from what happened in the timeline Link goes back to.

3 alternate timelines is really stupid. They might as well have just said every game is an alternate dimension (save for the games that go together, like the Oracles and OoT and Majora) and have each Link, Zelda, and big bad be native to that world.

An official timeline shouldn't even be necessary. If you really want to get all autistic about it, it's all based on a "legend" anyway. The various games could just be different variations on the legend, or the legend changing over time. Who gives a shit? Just relax and enjoy the games.

THAT SAID yeah it's kind of silly. I think the ORDER in that part makes sense, but why does link have to die in order for it to work? There was nothing in LTTP that said the hero was dead, just that the seven wise men had sealed away Gannon. Which sounds like the actual ending of Ocarina of Time to me.
