The last thread was in June.
Let's get those creative juices flowing!
Previous threads:

I'll start with one of mine.

In the illusionary world, there is a passage to the underworld. Guarding the bridge just passed the entrance is a princess who disallowed entry. Warning passers of the dangers is her duty, and those who ignore she fends away zealously. When asked why she attacks those who ignore her she said, People always coming and going as they please, ignorant of the dangers down here... So carefree and innocent they are. I'm so jealous...

Feel free to make new ones, post or even change older ones. The same format needn't apply. Just have fun with it!

http://fuuka.warosu.org/jp/thread/6628540 and http://fuuka.warosu.org/jp/thread/7443543 my friend.

In the illusionary world, there once was a bird youkai that loved books. Living peacefully in the forest, she kept to herself and lived an honest life. One day, a wandering shrine maiden came and demanded the youkai to hand over her books. Angrily, she said you won't get them without a fight. Shouldn't priestesses live honest lives?I worked hard for these.

There dwells a princess within the netherworld inside the illusionary world. No memories of her life does she still possess. Inside her home, with a smile she watches as the moon arcs overhead. When asked if she ever feels sad about her missing memories she said, What is important to me is making new, fond memories such as these. Youmu, please prepare some tea for our guest, as he will not be leaving for a while~

In the illusionary world, there lived a man in a shop near a magic forest. Collecting and selling various trinkets both new and old, he hoped make his living by his dealings with humans and youkai alike. When ask how often he received customers he said with a sigh, I don't often get customers. Instead I get nuisances who like to take whatever it is they please. If ever you interview a particular witch, tell her I'd like my books back.

I'll take requests when I get back. Thank you, Tokiko, for the contribution.

One of my favorites

In the land of illusion a trio of ghostly musicians reside, over the emotions of men, does their music preside. When once asked how they do this, they replied

Youkai use their talent over the heart to cause fear we use the same to play what they hold dear.

Don't ask me I just love to play. Maybe that love is what carries them away.

It is with the memory of our dear creator that we do. it is our hope that we can play this same memory to you.

Another good one

In the illusionary world there floated a blob of darkness. It would turn out, the blob was actually a girl hiding herself from the rest of the world. When asked why she hid herself in darkness day and night she said,
It might be so that some fear the darkness, but there isn’t anyone who doesn’t fear a monster.

Hmm, let's try this

In the illusionary world, there once lived a hardworking kasha. Day after day, she pushed her cart through the flames of hell, accompanied by luminescent spirits. She was always quick to whisk off any bodies she noticed lying about. When asked if she was happy with her job, she replied, "Some people find pleasure in dedicating their lives to work. Others prefer to relax all the time. As for me? I'd be happy to take your corpse!"

In the illusionary world, there once lived a goddess of autumn. Once a year, she would wake from her long sleep to touch the leaves with red and gold. There were no shrines built to her; she received no prayers or offerings of food, like her sister; even the woodland animals fled at the sound of her footsteps. And as the days slanted into darkness and the nights grew long and cold, she would inevitably close her eyes to dream through the three remaining seasons.

One morning, as she walked barefoot on the forest floor, she came across a poor dying man. The man noticed her and pleaded desperately, "Please. I have no clothing on my back and nothing to fill my stomach with. At least give me some beautiful words to keep before I die."

The goddess smiled gently, leaned towards his face, and whispered,

"Summer always turns to fall. All suffering gives way to peace. And if you lay your head down at night, you will surely wake in the morning. For now, sleep well."

Under the illusionary world dwells an ancient girl. Clumsy at times, yet noble, her two most coveted things were her religion and her Crown Prince. When intruders came, she charged forth, dedicated to defend them both. Defeat didn't scare her and to her master's worries, she replied, this isn't a petty matter, this is a war and I have to protect you, please let me handle this, their pathetic power isn't worth talking about!

Some of these new ones are pretty nice, but I sometimes think some of the original intention of the original format has been lost.

What makes the good ones really good isn't just pretty words, it's contrast. That's why the spoiler bars work so well to enhance the effect.

OP has some good contrast. In the intro Parsee's intentions seem evil or uncaring, but the spoilers reveal that her actions spawn from a positive feeling, admiration, that ultimately intensifies as envy. It's simple, but it does a job of explaining how she works.

On the contrary, >>8218221 is well written and has a nice build-up but lacks contrast. I feel like the spoilers are just a rephrasing of the introduction. "Leave it to me", made me smile though; it's a very nice detail that plays with the readers expectations. Reminds me of the original set, "You really are an idiot, aren't you?"

decided to make my own this time

In the illusionary world lives a young youkai who resides at a Buddhist temple. She has the ability to manipulate sounds, yet there in the temple, there were none to be found. Her job is to sweep floors and to greet visitors. While she was not very strong, wasn't she above such a small job? When asked if she felt her job was insulting, she replied,
Everyone has a part to play, no matter how small. And when you have a family like mine, my job is the best. After all, Since it's so small a part, I can spend more time with them.

There lives a fallen God in the illusionary world. Small, spry, and loving of her land and people she remains despite her long life. When asked if there is any remorse or wish to take back her Godhood she said, Of course not. I still have power, and the Moriya still has it's faith. I may not be it's focus anymore, true, but my people are happy and my land is flourishing. Isn't that enough?

I'll try a new one.

Outside of the illusionary world there lived a mysterious girl. Responding to a call for aid, she made her way inside to find she was too late to turn the tide of the incident. The tanuki now takes up residents at the Myouren. When asked if she was going to return home, she said with a bright smile, If I left now it would be an insult to my friend. Even if I couldn't help at that time, so long as I'm here now I can help at a moments notice.

Both would be the best for the biggest effect, right?

As the author of the original, I am surprised people still think this format is interesting. I feel like I have long ago exhausted all ideas for it.

Well, there are only so many touhous we can use, we eventually have to find something novel (but without jumping the shark). Of course the format is interesting, that's why it kept on for so long.

There is a gardener within the illusionary world. This girl busies herself tending to the netherworld gardens and taking care of her ghostly mistress' every whim. Never tiring or complaining, she fulfills her duties perfectly. When asked if she ever tires of her station, she said, Imagine you serve someone that you love with all of your heart. It would be cruel to ask such a person "wouldn't you like to leave?". Don't you think?

I like to start these threads every few months to see if anyone comes up with anything new. Thank you for creating such a wonderful format, as I've taken a fast liking to it. Forgive me for being lazy and posting ones that I and others have made made in the other threads.

I was going to bump the thread, but it doesn't seem that as many people are interested in these as the previous threads. A little bummed, but I'm still thankful for the new ones posted and the older ones people enjoyed. Thank you for participating.
