How do you go about upgrading cards?
My 'upgrade' button has been grayed out since my first failure during the tutorial quest.

So what exactly does Blue Envoy do, in other words?

So I have all the Cinias now except wedding . Swimsuit Cinia is amazing for PvE (have to scrap lineage), but I like chess/dress for PvP.
Foreign Student is still the most flexible choice if you want one though.

That, and the defense is too low. There is a reason why people love Pintail so much. That knight girl that gives everyone +1 works too.
Spell cards in this game are pretty scary even by tcg standards for their low costs. I mean for sure all the double rares are nuts (mass recall, fatal blow give me chills), rares (mother demon rumor, forced confinement, knights letter), but even the lessers like swap, shield break, rites, overwhelm etc can all put you in positions that make it impossible to recover at all.
I'm convinced that most of the people that cry saying crux is absolutely impossible to beat don't keep any of the game changers in their deck or waste shuffles. Relying completely on followers with the random system is just asking for it.

seriously, spell cards are so broken, I can just play my Layna and play everything to support, as long as I have 3+ cards in hand she is almost unkillable until shield break is played.
There was one game with her with 7 power and 26 stamina, getting +5 stamina before she is attacked is insane. Also Omnivores and stuff like that.
By the way, another really good rare spell is Mother Demon Rumor, although its situational, I would prefer if it destroyed the card in the 3rd slot (a lot of cards seem to use that slot), but still can be pretty powerful.

Mother demon rumor is for sealing Academy/Vita tactics. It can really stuff up Cinia by either forcing her to use slot 4 or disabling some of her worst skills.
There are other ways to deal with slot 3, swap and forced entry being the obvious.
Forced confinement is a nice card to have if you have space too.

I'm Vita too and my deck has to be mucho spell card heavy to beat those maids and knights. I kind of want to get Vernika though I'm headed for dress route even if swimsuit is better.
If transfer student Cinia was Darklore or Vita I'd probably be all over her.

Slot 3 in particular is pretty much the worst slot to build a powerful card in. Slot 2 next, then Slot 4.

I am much more afraid of Layna than Pintail and Frett.Echo light combined with that +2 all Luthica is definitely a real bitch. The higher I get the more I fear Cinia + Iri's spell card mayham instead of the random follower boosting. I got hit with a fatal blow today fuck that card. Mass Dispel or whatever is also rape tier.

I sure as hell abuse mass recall, forced entry, mother demon rumor, forced confinement, overwhelm, etc all to my advantage.
They really rage when I swap then - to 1 cost, and pump all their costs +2 or +3 and let it clean up while I feed it +3 atk/sta cards.

I'd be careful about mixing too many followers unless you plan on going tenkousei and building a hybrid deck.
You are already strapped for cards when you consider the mandatory defensive spell cards and a few debuffs/buffs that make academy tick.
Keep in mind that most of the players that know what they are doing have sense of belonging, and some multiple just because if someone is doing that it is probably a good card.
Honestly you'd probably be better off doing it the other way as darklore and just grabbing the few good maids, but I haven't fought either type so I wouldn't know.

If you skip out on lineage you can probably make it work, but maxing out lineage typically means 3 of them, 1-2 tighten security and magic summit invite. Accident is highly recommended for this route, as is Mass recall.
Even in just pure academy cards you already need restraint, she did it, noble sacrifice, forced entry, swap and dark secret. That's excluding all the other counter cards you'd want.

I'm fairly sure I could write a program to automate this entire game in a few hours, since my actions tend to depend more on my hand than what's already on the field.

Fuck, the only questions they ask to ensure you aren't a bot are 5+2 - parsing that is easy as fuck.

Somehow I speculate like all loaded decks will all be very minor variations on a theme. Once you throw in the must-includes you've practically got thirty cards already.

My favorite part of CCGs is deckbuilding, so I'd like to ask people at a high level how true this seems to be (well, I could find out myself after countless hours of grinding out the fifty point cards, but I'd rather not,) or tell me about the most interesting things you've run across so far.

Yeah, Sita have some pretty cool upgraded forms.
Sita is still the most common though, and still works great with the deck even though Dress or Kendo could probably sufice as well. And Swimwear is just overall nice.

Vanilla Sita eats up to 3 stamina each turn though. Which as far as stamina goes is actually quite great. Its like Kendo but not limited to open slot 3s. So its good if you don't mind it being more dispersed.

All vanilla Vernika does though is to be an anti defense character. True enough that is quite great/amazing, but a deck like this shouldn't need to be too dependent on it. Stamina damage ignores defense, and there is plenty of that in that deck. And if one really fears them, there is always Shield Breaker/Swap Magic, if one really were to feel the need for it.

Student Justice, also, lowers both stamina and defense. (on all enemy followers)

Heartless blow also damages 6, and can even take down 2 followers if the first 4 was enough.
But cue point, lots of the cards lowers defense as well, while it perhaps doesn't resets it to 0 as with Vernika.

Most don't have much other than Shield Breaker to lower enemy defense. Though I do wonder why I don't see all that much of Darklore's Tower Visitor.

But yeah, Sita helps against all enemy followers wheras Vernika dos nothing when there is no defense on the field, even though she is rather great when there is. Thing is, with a deck that that only suppliments damage with regular attacks, along side with damage effects (and negative buffs), rather than the other way around, followers with defense tend to die anyway.

This game seems really set against decks that have fewer than 10 units. Especially the rares and double rares. Mass Reject and Fatal Blow just do not make anyone's day.

But Sacrifice you say? You mean the darklord card? While theoretically nice I suppose, somehow, I never really found that card to be too reliable. If you give your opponent a chance to either take, or more tighten/secure his advantage, simply because you played such a card, is something I am quite weary about. I mean, its size is 3, its expensive. Heal, can, in fact make the same differences in health event hough it does no damage, and it only costs 1. But same basic principle applied to that card as well.

Vernika is also nice in the sense that you can open up 3 card slots by getting rid of Shield Breaks.

I hate playing against Vita. It's ridiculous how much Layna, Silvie, Katie, etc can snowball out of proportion because the game decides to not have my hard hitting cards attack them.

Layna is one of the strongest followers in the entire game. Considering she's only a Size 1, she is incredibly hard and time-consuming to kill. Katie is easily dealt with with shield breaks, though.

My first cards were Academy. When I tried out Crux on my other account I had alot of trouble to make a deck that could rival my academy card. Or, win against my friend's Darklore.

I have a great Crux deck now, but seriously, they aren't OP. People just don't know how to play Vita/Academy/Darklore/Hybrids. Or, Crux for that matter.

There is more to the game than putting right bloke in the right slot. It might perhaps not be the best game ever, but at least it got that much.

I know, I play Vita against some friends that play Crux, Academy and Darklore, and it's pretty much even. It all comes down to improving your own deck to beat another deck. Every time you think you've found the winning combination, the other player thinks of another deck setup to counter it.

Somehow missed the first thread, even though this game seems fun and cute. I have lots of experience with MtG (mostly casual, though), and I'm a bit overwhelmed by the stuff to choose from. So, here are my newbie deckbuilding questions:

- Should I bother with vanilla Followers (the ones with no abilities)? They don't seem that great to me, so should I just switch them for some more advanced ones?
- Should I bother with the cards from other factions? It doesn't seem like there are any drawbacks for having more than a single faction in your deck, but I'm losing some synergy because of that. What cards are worth that loss?
- What are some must-have cards for Crux? I already figure that Meadow's Leisure, Sense of Belonging and Shield Break are must-haves, but what else?

You can always replace the vanilla followers as you see fit as you grind. Some cross-faction cards are definitely worth it, but only if they're particularly powerful. Layna from Vita, Moondancer Kata Flina and Blue Moon Becky Fline from Darklore are very nice cards. As for spells, consider Shrink, Omnivore and Reunion from Vita, Sister's Letter and Swap spell from Academy, and I don't really know much about Darklore spells.

Pure Crux followers would work of course, but it's always good to get some of the spell cards that aren't faction restricted from other factions.

You can always make another account, but you get 500 tokens every day.
I found the best way to get favor is get cards with tokens after battles and feed her the ones you don't need - you get the added bonus of getting a chance at a good card.
I use items only to raise the stat I need.

I think its just random. I've had as much as +3 from a card I've gotten multiple -1s from. They don't really seem to prefer any types of cards either. I had Luthica dislike an uncommon Crux card then give +2 for a common Darklore. I'm out of cash so I can't really test anything. The game just automatically generates a random number that hasn't been entered in yet. You're free to erase it and put in a different number. If two people put in the same number they'll battle. Doesn't matter if one was generated or not.

For example, I'm in channel red and have just entered practice room 1000.

Battling with Iri against that bunny girl that changes her life total depending on whether it's even or odd clearly shows that the order the abilities are resolved in are random. One turn your ability is activated after hers, and she loses 2 life, the other it's activated before, and she gains 1 life.

Also, I lost two battles after fighting a boss once, simply because I decided to try again, but then changed my mind and didn't buy the token. Couldn't leave the battle screen other than with surrender.

No. Character card's ability and spell card activation order is based on who got the 1st turn.
As for spell card, some card have higher priority than other spell card so it will be always activated first. If there are two or more card with same priority then it'll be activated based on placement slot.

Someone was trying to make a darklore deck with it, but I'm pretty sure it hurt way more than it helped. If you are ok with not matching and want to play darklore you should really play tenkousei Cinia.

I used She did it to get an 8 size card once

But I was using Chess Cinia so thats okay with the -4atk and sta each turn

I changed my darklore deck into a full rites deck with 12-15 1 size units for pve and this is just silly. Usually have a ~15 attack and ~25hp card at the end of the first turn.
Fragile as all hell with very little defense, but usually I lose or win by turn 3. Makes grinding hearts pretty easy.

If this card somehow gets down to 0 atk, does it still give the stamina boost?

Also "allied followers" doesn't mean "only Academy followers", does it?

Hmm, as fun as it is it's an unfeasible card. I suspected as much but it was fun trying.

It works on a gimmick that's too random to pull off. I got a Pintail to 6 but ended up dumping it because my hand was full for instance.

It might be interesting with other size modifying cards but as it stands just having the Lion card isn't good enough. I did twice as good with Luthica.

I sometimes wonder why everyone complains so much about shield break. Is t really that much of a game changer? The highest I've ever seen defense to is 4, and that translates to -4. That's 4 more damage per attack. And if the card you've got has a defense of around 4, more likely than not, it's also got a shit ton of stamina and attack (read: a monster). They aren't stopping anything with a mere 4 point boost. And to begin with, I've never even seen a vanilla card with a defense rating higher than 3, other than "potentially" reaching such heights through effects, like the maid's tighten security.

As far as I can see, shield break is much too concentrated in use for the anti-monster role to be of use for general play. Well, at least, in my case. Though I will admit it would be a lifesaver for times like that. But how often do you fucking see a card with >3 defense and a shit ton of the 2 other stats? Not too much. Since it takes a lot of luck/planning/building/etc, to actually get it. To add to that, those "monster" cards don't even need to have a good defense rating, if they're already pumped with stamina. For general anti-armor play, I've found the card, Magic Stone Found to be much more useful, not to mention versatile, because of it's ridiculously low cost. If anything, that card should be called imbalanced, not shield break.

It's a korean / japanese whatever game.
If they want to keep the korean / japanese feel, don't change the artwork.

An artist takes pride in his work. In this case, the original artist would've took pride in telling his friends and peers that he drew something that came out of an online game. If that art was suddenly taken out then.. they would feel crushed.

Shield break is one of the few spells that directly targets the strongest card and gives it the kiss of death. Not having shield break basically opens you to being helpless by both Vita and Crux unless you use Vernika, stack spell card rejects, or use rites to create a 20+ attack card in one round.
But again, it isn't the most broken card at all, the point is that it directly counters 2 of the most common and otherwise nearly unwinnable strats.

This card is way, way worse when handled properly. Especially if they sac a bunch of 1 size maids and cook club members to boost it to 3 size, 25+ health and 15+ atk in 1 round. I'm academy and this card has solo'd crux fights while I spam spell cards. The only problem is that it is a follower and therefore random.

That card is fucking devastating if used right. At 16 cards in the grave plus quick service and 2 followers you can get a +10 STA and ATK size 4 follower.

That can be an echo light which already has 3 DEF.

It's essentially a game reverser. However its activation is a bit wonky, it seems it doesn't work if a card is in slot 4 already including quick service itself as it's used up.
