Cost for a start, it was about £15 for magazines here, and Nyantype was essentially some nice posters with some existing art.

I have thought about what I would do if I lost interest in otaku stuff, and it does scare me a bit since I obviously have thousands of dollars invested into the hobby. But I think if it came down to it, I could get a considerable sum of money back by selling my figures and artbooks... especially the doujin artbooks. The good thing about those items is that they don't really decrease in value since supply is scarce yet demand remains high.

As for people coming over... I've had plenty of normalfags over to the apartment. None of them had anything negative to say. At least to my face! In fact most compliment the decor. To be fair though I only invite people who I consider myself to be relatively close to, so something like a slightly "unique" apartment wouldn't be enough for them to alter their opinion of me. Also, while I suppress my power level, I don't lie about my hobbies, so they at least have a general idea of what to expect.

I use one when I teach my online classes. One monitor is used for the text window in skype where I add questions, comments and the like, and the other one holds the articles and class notes I reference during the class itself. It works well.

£15 from Otaku.co.uk (their magazines are reasonably priced, the art books however are usually more expensive than importing it yourself, I bought the Valkyria Chronicles 2 art book for £35-45 (I don't remember) whilst it was £50 from Otaku).

You can also go to Forbidden Planet for really old copies (Like 10 months old). Alternatively Japan Centre or JP-Books next door in London stock the current month.

The true meaning of greentext lies in YOUR POST not in others. It's ironic, because you think that you're quoting others while you're just, in fact, quoting yourself. Yes, greentext can be used when ironically posting a derogatory comment about other posts, but posting while just quoting other posts accomplishes nothing but contribute to spamming the board.

The greentext feature was never meant to serve as quote feature! Why people started using it that way is beyond me. There are plenty of reasons why one would choose to use greentext with his reply. For example, bumping threads with stupid one liner replies should be discouraged and those people should be coerced into using greentext to enlarge and enrich their stories instead.

I want to use greentext, yet I almost never do it on /jp/ because people will jump on me thinking I'm quoting their post or something.

Getting the actual table and kotatsu heater will be expensive. You might do better with an IKEA Lack table, mounting a Cozy Legs Flat Panel Heater to it, and then covering that over with a blanket. The panel heater I just mentioned is safe to the touch, so you can mount it directly to the table. You can also add more than one panel if you want it to heat up faster.

The table I mentioned has one of those bottom shelf things, so instead of attaching that when you are putting the table together, save it. Once you put the blanket over the table with the panel mounted to the bottom of the table, take that bottom shelf and put it on top.
