How is it worse? With a credit card, you're spending money you don't actually have. Debit cards draw funds directly from your bank account, so you know exactly how much money you have left and if you should buy something or not.
>less security.
How is it less secure? If you have a Visa/Mastercard debit card then it's exactly the same as a credit card.

Ahh, I'm still looking for the first game, most stores here don't have it. And it's really painful when I remember I saw one game store display the Special Edition on their front shelf months ago, but I didn't have a PS3 during that time. Ugh...

No, actually it isn't.
A debit card goes through your bank. This means that if it is stolen you not only have to deal with visa, but your bank who is always more of a bitch..
It also opens you up to cans of worms like: overdraft fees from drained account, delayed response while researching leading to account locks or suspensions, and following the terms of protection that your bank wishes to preform, which are at best the same. No matter what is done on the credit card the absolute worst they can do is charge up to your limit which will be contained on the card. With your debit card they can charge your entire account, and most banks only forgive X number (5-10) fees in the event of a stolen card while taking longer to fix the problem.
Chargeback terms and other active forms of protection are far superior on a credit card if you use them. If it is your primary account you use to pay bills that is absolutely not a card you should be paying with online as your standard card, because if that fucks up you'll probably have to call 3-4 offices by phone to change the card.

I'm covered if my card ever gets stolen or lost, according to my bank, so nothing to worry about there.
>overdraft fees from drained account
That's why you check your balance before you buy something, it only takes a second. My bank allows 3 overdrafts per year without any charges if you call them about it right away, anyway.

FFFFFUUUUUU

I see this on /v/ all the time. Why are people so afraid of being judged by a gamestop employee? Or maybe "the other nerds in the store will laugh at me?"

A clerk working retail in November has his life go by in a blur. He won't remember a single face or a single purchase the moment they leave the store because he has soccer moms hounding him about stupid shit like "which wii controller is most recommended for a 9 year old?".

This "shameful" game is a product they sell, and not some weird perverted thing you had them special order for you... other copies of this same product are sitting right there on the shelf beside the brown & bloom shooters. It is there to be sold, and other people have already bought other copies at that same store.

If gamestop secretly sold giant black double ended dildos on special order, I could see a person being uncomfortable buying one when surrounded by other shoppers... But you are buying a videogame in a videogame store.

I just don't get it. This is the /v/ equivalent to people who can't piss in public restrooms. Just say to yourself "What one man can do, another can do" and go do it.

Sure, but how quickly will they pay it back? I had fraud appear on my account (hadn't lost my card or anything, just suddenly someone not me has spent all the money at tesco) and had to send off a form and wait about two weeks with no money. Depending on the bank 1 of 3 will happen.
1. Your funds get refunded in 2-7 days while you are under investigation (as long as you don't have a history of being hacked this will happen).
2. Your account will get locked (will also happen if the number was sizable, or the conditions are fishy) during investigation.
3. Your account will be put in a surveillance mode and you will have to manually approve every transaction that goes through until the investigation is over.

You can get 3 overdrafts in less than 20s after they drain your card. Paying on a debit card also does absolutely nothing for your credit score if you are in no credit.
Under the absolute best conditions debit cards are equal in safety but worse in features. Now many banks are also charging you to use them.
Under the worst conditions debit cards will fuck you over bad. This isn't applicable to /jp/, but if you have real responsibilities on auto-pay through your bank account/debit card you should not use that number all over the place. In security that would be as bad as using the same password for everything.
Credit cards 101 don't they teach this shit in school?
