Hey, /jp/. What anime have you been watching this season? I've been watching Mawaru Penguindrum, Fate/Zero, Mirai Nikki, and Ika Musume. Honestly I think that Penguindrum is the best. The characters are strong, the animation is simply gorgeous and the story is captivating.

It's an honest question, and anime is an important part of otaku culture. You could argue that Japanese language threads belong on /lang/, "RONERY" / NEET / hikikomori threads belong on /r9k/, imagedumps on /c/, etc etc. If /jp/ were only Touhou and figures, it'd suck.

Oh, I'm watching Persona 4 too, forgot to say that. The animation quality's been bad but it's a really fun show! I never played the games but it's really fun.

This season I'm watching F/Z, meat, friends and bento.
I don't have time for much more, sadly.

If you hadn't watched the first season of Shana, don't start with the currently airing one (Final).

I haven't watched anime in a long time. I just feel so fucking depressed everyday. I took a swing at a cop in hopes he would lock me up. He just laughed at me and called me pathetic.

I get that a lot, but I always feel better once I force myself to watch/play something.

I've been watching Penguindrum since it started airing, and it's probably my favorite show to have come out in the last few years.

Also currently watching Fate/Zero and Hunter x Hunter. Fate/Zero is pretty impressive, it's met my expectations easily. I love the Kara no Kyoukai movies, so seeing that ufotable was doing another Type-Moon work I was hoping it'd be good.

Hunter x Hunter I'm just watching because I liked that show years ago. Don't know why they're making a new show, that manga still hasn't ended and never will, so I don't know what they'll do.

Also saw some episodes of Mirai Nikki, it was pretty good but comes off to me as something that could easily turn shitty.

I've had Redline downloaded for a while but still haven't brought myself to watch it. Maybe I'll do that tonight.

When you to watch or read something, do you do it all in one or two sessions? Or space it out (this applies to already aired or released things)

That's one of my biggest problems. I'll get in to something like a manga or anime that has a definite end. Get engrossed in the world it plays out and the plot, interactions of the characters and so on. Its all very fun...until the series or book or VN ends.

At which point I end up going through a withdrawal of sorts. Depressed near and to the point of tears, silent to the point of not even talking to my self, sleep most of the day, etc.

Trying to watch it in bits is difficult. Perhaps watching some currently airing series would be a better idea, so I dont go absorbing it all in one go.

Watching C3, Persona 4, and Shana this season. I tried other ones but they weren't very good.

Not the guy you replied to, but I always watch one episode a night so I don't finish too fast, sometimes I can't resist and end up watching another one but I usually restrain myself. I used to never watch more than 1 or 2 current series so it would take me like a month to watch a completed 26-episode series. Last couple seasons I was watching 6 or 7 current ones though, so I wasn't watching any old stuff at all.

This season been watching Penguindrum, Horizon, Guilty Crown (why am I even watching this?), and Wakfu; and Natsume starting from the beginning on the other 3 days (currently halfway through S2). Was watching too much last season to catch up on the first two seasons of Natsume, current season is so much shittier though that I have time to do it now.

REC was the last one I watched. I watched Genshiken a few months before that.

And I'd rather read the Future Diary manga than watch the anime, mostly because I can

While I wouldn't agree that the characters are strong, because they aren't really, the character relations are what's magnificent. The animation isn't extraordinary, but it's above average and the surrealist style fits very well with the series. The story is quite captivating at many levels, although I understand that the average person probably can't follow all the stuff that happens and as such passes it off as boring shit, it is quite a confusing ordeal. But that's what's amazing about the story; it's very good at concealing things, keeping you in the dark and slowly revealing more bits and pieces instead of outright not saying anything then explaining everything at the very end like many stories end up doing. It makes you think and want more because even if you theorize all day you're still missing key pieces of information. This combined with the character relation map weaves a nice complex web. To top it all off, the attention to detail is pretty fantastic. All of the background events have significance, hint towards future events and reveal other details that can't be explicitly shown. But again, the viewer has to pay attention to these things and interpret them as well. Plus, it has Brain's Base's odd sense of jovial humour, rampant symbolism and dare I say randomness. It's just great overall.

i honestly feel sorry for you that you don't enjoy this show
