9 days left until this gets released. How are PSP emulators nowadays? Can I emulate this, or do I need a real PSP to be able to play it?

>> No.8109315

I didn't know this was coming out
so this has all the episodes or is just the first part?

It's the remake with all the episodes as chapters in one game.

>> No.8109397

It's Xseed so I'm going to feel bad if I don't buy it.

>> No.8109410

I think you might be able to emulate it. Even though the only working emulator is a hunk of junk it should still be able to let you play the game without many issues. I hope they'll release the Book of Shadows too. That one has amazing production values~

>> No.8109411

It doesn't looks like a heavy game, it might work just fine on JPCSP.

>emulating a 50 dollar handheld you can firmware flash to run everything in 5 minutes.

the level of cheapness on this board often astounds me.

I tried looking on eBay, but it seems to be impossible to get one to the Netherlands for under $100. If you know a place where I can get one for $50, please link me there.

Gamemania often has used consoles for cheap. also the new 99 euro model without wifi can be flashed as well.

Cheapest second-hand there is 69 euros, which is about $94.87. That's excluding shipping.

you seriously convert euros to dollars on a European site?

69 is still half than what a new PSP-3k costs. but if you want a cheaper one go and visit your local gamemania.

What do you mean by "amazing production values"?

Problem with Book of Shadows: It's more or less only a fan disc with parallel/alternative events of what is already known.

Only the last (extra) chapter somewhat continues the story. But then that's nothing more than a prologue.

Hold the fuck up a minute, this is getting localized?

It was already pretty amazing that we got Fate Extra, what's going on?

Publishers are becoming increasingly interested in VNs. First we had Phoenix Wright, then we had some other almost-VNs, then we got our first full VN by a big publisher with '999: Nine Hours, Nine Doors, Nine Persons', which was a huge success (completely sold out really quickly). So now more is coming, such as Corpse Party and Hakuouki.

Or not. Capcom won't bring over the newest entry in the AA series.

Don't forget old VN like Monkey Island.

Ever since they pulled the plug on Legends 3, I was pretty much done with that shit company.

Now, they're just pandering to the West like the rest of the big Japanese game companies.

>999 received critical acclaim, with several near perfect scores emphasizing its well written story, remarkable presentation, and addictive gameplay. Some of the notable review scores are 10/10 from Destructoid, 9/10 from Nintendo Power, IGN and GamesRadar, and 4.5/5 from Cheat Code Central.[8] The game received a score of 82 on Metacritic, based on 26 critics.
>Following the game's release, it sold out from many US retailers both traditional and online, including Amazon.com[9] and GameStop, resulting in high prices on the secondary market. Aksys has since announced a second printing.[10]
It sold significantly more copies in the US than in Japan.
(Most US people also didn't realize it was a huge Ever17 ripoff and gave Ever17 lower ratings after playing them after 999 because they've seen the twists before. Such is the price of more releases...)

Did you know that in Japan, they call visual novels 'adventure games'?

>A visual novel (ビジュアルノベル, bijuaru noberu?) is an interactive fiction game featuring mostly static graphics, usually with anime-style art, or occasionally live-action stills or video footage.[1] As the name might suggest, they resemble mixed-media novels or tableau vivant stage plays.
>
>In Japanese terminology, a distinction is often made between visual novels proper (abbreviated NVL), which are predominantly narrative and have very little interactive elements, and adventure games (abbreviated AVG or ADV), which typically incorporate problem-solving and other gameplay elements. This distinction is normally lost in the West, where both NVLs and ADVs are commonly referred to as "visual novels" by Western fans.

Corpse Party fits this description; Phoenix Wright is arguable.
