What does autism feel like?

>> No.8108748

The first step towards curing it is reporting your thread.

That sounds like a symptom, not a cure.

We have your son.

We will make sure he will not be able to care for himself or interact socially as long as he lives.

This is only the beginning.

"It's a fraud, a racket. I'll tell you what autism is. In 99 percent of the cases, it's a brat who hasn't been told to cut the act out. That's what autism is. What do you mean they scream and they're silent? They don't have a father around to tell them, 'Don't act like a moron. You'll get nowhere in life. Stop acting like a putz. Straighten up. Act like a man. Don't sit there crying and screaming, idiot.' "

This man is on to something.

What do you mean they sleep all day and they're silent? They don't have a friend around to tell them, 'Don't act like an emo. You'll get nowhere in life. Stop acting like a bum. Straighten up. I've heard it feels like if you were a normal human, and everybody else was a dog. You can't just communnicate with dogs.

I like how that analogy avoids identifying autistics as the subhuman retards they are

No, but seriously, that's what I've heard.
We may never know, as we are not actual autists.

It feels like you can't ever know what other people are thinking because their minds are completely different to anything you understand.

I once talked to a high functioning autist. He said he didn't like being autistic... that's about it.

Person diagnosed with Asperger's at the age of 18 here. To be honest, at least for Asperger's, I do think he's on to something.

I hear horror stories about people with Asperger's being completely unable to communicate with others, completely unable to grasp implied meanings, et cetera. But those stories are always coupled with special treatment because they were diagnosed with Asperger's.

Sure, many of those things don't come naturally to me. I need to think for a moment about most things said to me. I have to consciously put in effort for proper intonation and volume of my voice. But while I don't do those things naturally, I do have far better learning ability than most people. Just because shit doesn't come to me naturally, doesn't mean I can't learn whatever I'm lacking.

I had a shitty childhood, being bullied and stuff because I was different. Looking back on my actions, I deserved all of that. My shitty childhood taught me to adapt. People learn from mistakes if they're punished for them. Nowadays, you wouldn't be able to tell I have Asperger's even if you knew me. The only subtle signs you can still see are my inability to make eye contact and sometimes absurd motivation for things that interest me.

While Asperger's is real, the "cure" for it is to simply not treat it as anything special.

It would help if people stopped using aspergers as an excuse for other things, but I don't think that's happening any time soon.

>> No.8108928

guys, I can't help but look away when someones looking at me.
even when I play video games and eroge, or watch movies I do the same thing when the character is looking at the camera
