OP will never do it, but I wish I hate the time and skills to do one. I want to base it off a short story I did for Creative Writing class. Basic outline: Man living a good life with lover, made a mistake and someone died. His lover is murdered, he commits suicide. He is reborn (but isn't fully aware, similar to The Years of Rice and Salt feel where he doesn't know but sometimes things come back to him) and in the end his best friend is gruesomely murdered in front of him. Repeat several more times, the people closest to him dying and him dying alone and in pain. In the first life it was the late 1800s, the last one he in born in the present day. In the last life, things going as usual until he remembers everything at once and then tries to save his fiance from being killed.

The story itself wasn't very long, just a short story and I no longer have it saved but I've always wanted to rewrite it and make it into a proper story.

Also, the story was supposed to be really sad and the person who originally died trying to take revenge on him. Bad then I wasn't that good of a writer and it didn't come across as such, professor found the murders funnily overdone like in a horror movie.

Start by writing a proper summary. Just a small stream-of-conscience wall of text that explains everything too quickly and completely matter-of-factly does not give a proper impression of what the story would be like.

Even my mock plot summaries are written better than that.

Start by writing something. I recommend short stories. The sooner you get something out, the sooner you can develop your talents. I later became autistic about wanting a good artist and gave up on the VN part, but at least I can write.

I think it'd be a good idea for some of us to try to make a visual novel anyway. I can write and compose music poorly and I have ideas for some but I doubt anyone would volunteer for the remaining work a visual novel needs because it's not their own idea. It's difficult to be enthusiastic about doing work for someone else's project after all.

However, maybe we could make a visual novel adaptation of a classic novel like War of the Worlds or Starship Troopers or something else that might translate well into the medium (it doesn't have to be science fiction, just something that people would enjoy working on together). /jp/'s done it before and the result wasn't bad at all, though it was a much shorter work.

To be honest, I mostly read old books (and I was looking for something outside of copyright in the case of War of the Worlds). Bulgakov's The Master and Margarita might be fun although it's about as old as Starship Troopers. I'd be open to any better ideas.
