Probably the travelers will get scared and start to atack due to the hardened life they had in Gensokyo, and in a short of period of 2 hours the butchery will be finished and in teh ground will lay the dreams and dismembered bodys of 4/5 of futaba.

There's an anime about this already, if their powers are retained: Nekogami Yaoyorozu.

Actually that's because gods sustain themselves on faith, hence why Reimu's doesn't have a physical form.

But yes, fantasy creatures do rely on humans believing that creepy monsters exist, they moved to Gensokyo for that reason. However, this does not seem to apply to everyone, since some (like the tanukis) are still believed to be real by some people.
